@Deltatristar500 - I haven't looked at your NPI as you said 4x works.
Looking at your game log... 1920x1080 75hz GTX970... and you can't use 4x? Are you expecting 75FPS at all times?
This AA @ 4x is as demanding as 400% scaling.

I use 2x due to old hardware and have no real issues, yes i'd still prefer 4x though!
My setup 3840x1024 60hz GTX760 - That's twice your resolution on a much older card, locked and smooth 30 FPS.
You could use 4x if you use uset r_vsync "2" - lower FPS but no more drops or stutters.

2x is near distance AA (close stuff) - object further away are jaggy.
4x is middle distance - most objects look great.
8x (if it worked) is far distance - would fix those very distant flickering lights.

Firstly, HDR (1.39 and lower) makes 2x worse as you see a lot more flickering, so I have HDR off... 1.40 (not tested yet) HDR can't be turned off... I may not be moving up.

FXAA puts a slight blur on the image but also causes a flicker/sparkle on pixels. Don't use.

EDIT:
Anyone that wants more FPS shouldn't do these:-
00:00:02.152 : uset g_lod_factor_pedestrian "15"
00:00:02.152 : uset g_lod_factor_parked "15"
00:00:02.152 : uset g_lod_factor_traffic "15"

Try them at "2" max or put back to "1"

@JHTrucker
Disabling hdr does indeed make 2x nicer. Mainly road line AA got worse by using HDR

@mgysgtdev

Road lines suffer from the multiple textures at the same level problem, NOT AA related.

actualy they are 0.1 above road, but once the road has steep ups and downs, they act like that.

It is AA related when you look at them at an angle. For instance 100 meters before the road makes a turn you can see the road lines suffer from a bad AA

@mgysgtdev

I doubt it! I experience the problem as flickering, not jagged lines. Depending on
angle the game engine can't decide which texture to display, the asphalt or the line.
My two cents!

In my experience the flickering has even got worse in ETS2 1.40 OB.
The more textures there are the more trouble the game engine has displaying in correct.

@olaf28

That's not a good thing if it's true. With the new lighting system one would think
things got better in that respect! We'll see when FINAL is released, as it seems
as if they are still developing that area.

To me it seems devs are COMPLETELY ignoring this immersion breaking issue. The new content they keep releasing (maps, trucks, other stuff) is super cool and always will be, but what does it matter when both games have mediocre graphics thanks to massive shimmering/flickering effects. I'm really having hard time to fully immerse myself into driving.

@Jarinage

Yes, I agree! It's a damn luck we at least found out that this NPI scheme was possible even
in DX11. When they changed to it, I first was more or less giving up on these games.
