[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@toni1958 - i have that file, thanks, can you delete it as it won't work well for the others that will just download it as well.
I'll add some options to that file for you to test... soon.
I have an update for option 1 coming if i can trust my connection to stay on long enough to let me update the page... so i'd hold off testing that until you see it's updated... should make setting up easier.
trackir=1 in config is default anyway... you used it but didn't need to set it!
Edit: As you have stress tested your card then that's good to see it doesn't get hot and therefore drop it's clock speed. So probably no need for afterburner, i thought you may have it already as you said you have benchmark software.
Your cpu is good at multi core whereas intel are still best for single core performance, i think.
So having a 5Ghz intel cpu would help feed your card faster.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker & BenganJ
I have been playing ATS for 4 hours now and not one freeze in the whole time. Nearly all of the stuttering has gone too except for when I am turning a corner slowly but is hardly noticeable(probably due to my big screen).
I changed the mirror distance from Ultra(bit ambitious there I think) to medium as you suggested. Tried setting pre rendered frames to 2 in NPI but still think it works better(for me at least) using 3D application.
I managed to get afterburner monitoring overlay on screen during game and cannot see any problems there, got it on big screen so I can actually see it now and it is so much better than the geforce experience overlay.
FPS on 30 the majority of the time but never dropping below 25
GPU temp hangs around 66C, Core temps all 48C and core 1 never goes above 86%
I had an intel i5 processor before I upgraded (or downgraded you might think) to the AMD after explaining my game symptoms to the guys at overclockers, should have come here first :-)
I apologise JHT about the trackir, I was thinking about to tobii thing.
I am not going to change anything now until you have time to do the screen configs and the other stuff.
I thank you both once again for your help, you have made my gaming experience so so much better :-)

It's so wonderful to hear that you now have got a game experience that is good.
It's been a pleasure helping you out when the outcome according to your own
opinion has been that much better! Any time you feel you need to ask something
you're welcome back here! Now ENJOY the game!

@toni1958 - Here's your new test files, instructions in the zip.
Only you can tell if they are worth having or sticking with your current one.
CHECK PM FOR THE ZIP FROM JHTrucker! //BenganJ
Extra thoughts...
My 11 year old pc is from Overclockers! Supplied 2.4Ghz running at 3.3Ghz for all of this time!
That overclockers guy is right... SCS is keeping a ten year old budget game alive with updates and dlc whereas others create new games to go with the times. You'll be more than fine with modern games (sims!) on your modern hardware. But I'm happy scs are doing that as my hardware and expectations fit quite well with it... for now.
I'm wondering if your gpu is on the cusp of downclocking if it thinks it's under used, the files will sort that out!
FOV: Yours is quite wide from the pic you showed and you said it was to see your left mirror fully (height). But the higher the FOV the more things are in the rendered image and therefore... lower fps.
If you're now going to use headtracking again then you could lower it now?
I like to turn off the in game steering wheel as i have a real one in front of the screen that i'm holding on to. Then i can sit further forward (on screen) to enable a much bigger windscreen view.
Yes, mirrors are quite the fps killer because they are rendered images each to go with the 3 screen images you use, so that's 7 images. You'll already know the mirrors are dynamic, view changes as you move your head around while looking at them, like a real mirror. They could have just done static mirror views but the real look is best... so lower distance always helps here.
In cities at junctions you'll have traffic behind you in the mirrors and traffic left/right/ahead. When you set off and turn all that traffic has to start being displayed or removed from the mirrors... and now i've bored myself.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@ BenganJ and JHTrucker
Thank you both for the file, I will try it out over the next couple of days and get back to you.
JHT Thanks for the extra thoughts, I will take it all onboard and do so testing. I noticed the stuttering when turning is worse when I have one of the huge great long low loader trailers with the dolly at the front and extra wheels at the back so that would fall in with what you were saying about stuff in the mirrors... before you got bored that was hahaha
I will drop in from time to time to see when you have updated option 1 so I can give it a whirl. Do you have a mod for removing the steering wheel or how have you done it? I have seen a couple about but not sure if they are for 1.39 and not really tried out.
Thanks guys

@toni1958 - No rush to test, just enjoy driving with your new and better setup.
Steering wheel removal... that falls into the category of "we're not going to add that to the game menus and instead you'll have to work it out for yourself" thanks scs.
No mods required:
Your profile folder - config_local.cfg - uset r_steering_wheel "1" <-- "0" is off.
Another thought on performance and why ATS is worse that ETS2.
ATS has a lot of chrome parts, mirror brackets, air filters, side exhausts visible in mirrors etc and all of them have real time reflections if reflections are on high. Try a truck, Mack Anthem, with painted things and no air filter or side exhaust.
Option 1 will be updated very soon (easy setup manual window controls), just want to retest and check it works as intended. If it looks too daunting for you... then just ask and i'll edit your file for you if you supply it.
So make sure your headtracking is working!
EDIT: Option 1 now updated.
Back on topic...
Hope you're not using these from the main post?
uset g_lod_factor_pedestrian "15"
uset g_lod_factor_parked "15"
uset g_lod_factor_traffic "15"
If so, change them back to "1" or a max of "2".
That'll help your fps if you were on "15".

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Hi, guys.
My config: i5-4690K@4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM@2400 MHz, RTX3070 stock (Driver 460.79), game installed on SATA SSD. OS: Win10 64 bit.
Running ETS2 and ATS on 1080p, all setings in game and NPI like in OP+mod on load distance for trees and grass from OP, traffic, pedestrians and parked set on 15, grass - 3, mirror distance - 900 and shadows - 8192. Vsync is off.
My fps usually fits in 60-80 frames, but sometimes i have drops from 30 to 40 FPS. And GPU loaded only on 35-45%, cpu 50-70%. The question is why game doesn't use GPU on full load, thx in advance.

Hi there! The game engine SCS uses for these two games are very old, in some circumstances not
capable of getting all power out of a capable card. You have such card. RTX3070 is a good one! So,
what I would like you to tell me is which refresh rate are you using on your 1080p monitor?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Hey! I use 60 Hz monitor, want to buy new one 144 Hz or 165 Hz, likely i will stay on 1080p, because even such good card doesn't give proper fps to play in 1440p =)BenganJ wrote: ↑December 14th, 2020, 11:05 am@angryenot

I disabled V-sync because when fps drops under 60, image spurts and loose smoothness. I used V-sync that's built in game locked on 60 fps (set r_vsync "1") with uset t_averaging_window_length "120".
