[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@clear F1
Absolutely NO problem. I have all the time in the world! Thank you for the resolutions,
I will now do some calculations and see if I can find any reason why you can not get a
proper AA with them. But right now, I am going to bed as it is in the middle of the night
here now! So, Good Morning to you and I wish myself a Good Night!

I thought that x2.00 would give good results because of the resolution of even numbers, but AA will give bad results, which is the same as x1.5 and x1.78.
The order of AA is x2.25> 1440 native> x1.5 = x1.78 = x2.0.

I didn't realise there was an issue here?... but here's what DSR values mean, i think.
You say "I thought that x2.00 would give good results because of the resolution of even numbers"
But 2x isn't even scaling for DSR.
With scaling in game:
200% = 2 x height & 1 x width
400% = 2 x height & 2 x width
In game scaling can scale height & width at different values.
DSR scaling:
1.5x = 1.225 x height & 1.225 x width
1.78x = 1.333 x height & 1.333 x width
2.00x = 1.4138 x height & 1.4138 x width
4.00x = 2 x height & 2 x width
DSR scales height & width by the same amount.
4.00x is best as its double pixel in each direction.
Out of interest, as a test only, try:
2560x1440 - 2 x AA at DSR 4.00x
2560x1440 - 4 x AA with no DSR
Which image looks the best? and 2xAA gives better fps at DSR 4.0x?

@JHTrucker
The problem isn't the calculations, it's the fact that clear F1 says he doesn't get any good AA
at any DSR factor except 2.25x, i.e. with native res of 2560x1440 giving 3840x2160, essentially
a double 1080p res. Why does NOT factors 1.5x, 1.78x and 2.0x give proper AA?? As far as I can
see we don't hit any multiple of 1440x900 or 1680x1050 either, so what's the answer?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ - Perhaps DSR & our AA needs to equal a proper monitor resolution?
1440 at 2.25x = 3840x2160 = 4k
Does your 1920x1080 AA work with all DSR values?
You use 1.78x to get 1440 = proper monitor resolution.
Just a thought.

Exactly the way I started to think too, as for clear F1 with his 2560x1440 native res. gets
pretty odd resolution values. DSR obviously works, but AA doesn't and I think it would be
odd if a pure mathematical procedure like MSAA or SGSSAA should care about certain very
common resolution values. Sadly I haven't had any reason to test other than 1.78x for myself,
but I maybe should do that now then. DAMN!

Good morning.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Out of interest, as a test only, try:
2560x1440 - 2 x AA at DSR 4.00x = 5120 x 2880 48 fps to 55 fps in urban areas. AA is bad.
Self test: 2560x1440 - 4 x AA at DSR 4.00x = 5120 x 2880 27 fps to 35 fps in urban areas. AA is not bad.
2560x1440 - 4 x AA with no DSR = 90 fps on average. I haven't tested it because it's the current setting.
