@JHTrucker

Nope, so maybe they can show us a short video too, so that we can rule this out now!

Yeap, you can rule it out, I made a rookie mistake, not only installed beta 1.37 but forgot I also installed the new Nvidia driver who screwed everything up, sorry about that.

@black-coffee - we've all been there!

@BenganJ and anyone else interested in testing.
I've been trying a lot of AA bits that all appear to work but still only at 4x max.
I'm wondering if DX9 NPI AA was also limited to 4x? I know you've said previously that you used 32s on DX9 as well, but was it really 32s?
Only rolling back and checking is the answer, but who cares, it's DX11 now and that's all we have to play with.
Do the current driver versions only support forcing up to 4x?
Is it something unintentional in the game engine that's stopping it?

Anyway, now it's time to try DSR, seeing as we can't currently increase beyond 4xMSAA.
This is for single monitors only as DSR doesn't work with nvidia surround.
NCP
Manage 3D settings
Global settings
DSR factors
Tick 1.20x, 1.50x, 1.78x or 2.00x
Set desktop resolution to new DSR resolution
Set in game resolution to new DSR resolution

That'll make 4xMSAA + 4xSGSS look a bit better.

As long as the in game resolution and desktop resolution are the same, then there's no problem with game defaulting back to native resolution on each restart.

@JHTrucker

To be honest, I never checked if we got more than 4xAA in DX9! Wherever I read
at that time, people said that going to 8xAA gave you very little, but at a very
high cost, so mostly I ran at 4xAA! I then also tested to add MFAA to that 4xAA
in order to gain almost 8xAA at a much lower cost, but that gave very little in
terms of better AA too!

I have also tested a lot of alternative AA bits, but so far, no success! But I'll have
a go at combining what we have now with the DSR scheme and see what that will
give me. Will be reporting back later!

Gravesteyn - Your 50+ year old eyes sound like my 50+ ones!
I assume you took the GTX980 out of pc? Was the fan clogged with dust/fluff? Stopping the fan spinning as fast as it needs to to keep it all cool.
If you or others smoke in the room with the pc, that smoke gets sucked through the pc internals and gives it a slightly sticky layer to help collect passing dust/fluff/dog hairs etc.
Roll on Monday!
Took the card out and no dust. Looks like new even after 4 years of hard work.
No smoking in my house. No pets in my gameroom. PC is also clean.
Delivery is delayed. I hope it wil come tomorrow.

@SMN

The sharpening settings in NPI reflects the ones in NCP! Have you checked there if
Nvidia removed it from the driver?

In NCP sharpening settings are present! And there I set 0.17 and 0.75.
In NPI not podssible change. I think - problem with NPI +GeForce Driver 445.75

@SMN

If that's the problem NPI will get an update soon! I haven't installed
that driver yet, I have as a philosophy NOT to use the latest driver
version, as sometimes there's a fix released after a short while.
I suggest you go back to an earlier release as a solution!

EDIT: According to that drivers release notes, there are certain
problems including Image sharpening. Link to release notes:
