[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@Road Runner
I've seen your post on the steam forum for this, and...
"Final advice unless you have a high end PC go for the minimal NPI settings first then if all is well go for the extra ones."
You don't state minimal ones in the description (that i could see), people who don't fully understand how heavy AA is won't know to just set this first:-
Antialiasing - Setting: 4x (4x multisampling)
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling: 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling
Texture filtering - LOD Bias (DX): -1.0000
Just trying to save you steam support time.

@JHTrucker
Your absolutely right of course but I have been trying to remain on message so that we are all giving the same advice. I'll probably do a re-edit and give the alternative lesser options. DONE :D

@JHTrucker & @Road Runner
And I'm going to re-edit the first post in the spirit of how JHTrucker layed it out,
as soon as I get the time for it. :D

@Road Runner @BenganJ
I just think what we have achieved here is an amazing image difference and to see people complain about the game being "now unplayable fps" and then just dismiss it altogether is disappointing. Start low, go big.
@BenganJ
I would perhaps put your config/LOD mods at the very end, as you know pushing such high details further away is really demanding.
Also state your FOV 50? as a reference.
People may not know that lowering your FOV brings objects closer to you and therefore you see the change in their detail levels clearer. SCS should really have a multiplier built in to keep LOD in sync with FOV changes.
With the default FOV 70-80 the default LOD's need minimum increase.
Traffic lod 2 for example is all i use at FOV 60.
Ok I'll shut up now!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
No mate, don't shut up, you are so right in this. But the setting of FOV = 50, I use for two reasons.
1. In discussion on SCS forum Max at SCS told us that the experience of speed is optimal at that value on FOV.
2. The spin-off I get from setting it that low is that the game doesn't have to render essentially more than the
cabin view, as I don't see any left mirrors at all, and I also don't use virtual mirrors for the same reason. As I'm
using headtracking it's easy to get the mirror view when NEEDED. That whole scheme will get me a few more
FPS as well.
I will try to edit the first post during the weekend and my idea is to make it a step by step instruction to get
the essential setup working, and below that list all the settings we have published earlier for those with the
resources for it to pick from. So, as you request, the extra LOD settings will be at the very end. Wombat will
also make a video to put in the first post for people to see how to do it.
EDIT: BTW, what is your suggestion for values in multimonitor_config.sii now after all tests? Which will work
best for most users?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ It's ok.
Just trying to help.
I find FOV 50, whilst slows the motion, makes turns seem really tight.
multimonitor_config.sii
My only real thought is still as long as the ui width is < 1 it'll work.
Your 1920x1080, Road Runner 1920x1200 (soon to be 2560x1440 page 65) and my 3840x1024 are all significantly different but all work at 0.99 (and 0.999!)
Perhaps a poll with different resolutions or just a list of confirmed sizes that work, as people let you know, on the first post.
If someone gets a failure (gfx flip) create an alternate file with a lower value that they would then have to put up with seeing a noticeably smaller ui (0.9)?.
Also a warning for those that already have a multimonitor_config.sii file in their folder to back it up first.
@Road Runner
Steam improvement, perhaps this layout would be clearer?
Antialiasing - Choose only one pair (low/medium/high):
LOW
Antialiasing - Setting: 4x(4x Multisampling)
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling:4x Sparse Grid Supersampling
MEDIUM
Antialiasing - Setting: 8xQ(8x Mutisampling)
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling: 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling
HIGH
Antialiasing - Setting: 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS]
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling: 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling
Sorry man, i'm not a teacher looking to correct your work. Just like to see things as simple as possible.
I'm only looking on steam to see how people react to this topic.
This is the first forum i've joined, so sorry if i come across as pushy or annoying!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Mr. R R, I don't know what you call a device, but I use an Aruco pattern mounted on a regular cap
and a common web-camera together with a headtracking program called opentrack. Haven't you
read my other topic here on the forum about headtracking? There you have it all described and
also a video showing it. Take a look here, mate! :D
