@JHTrucker

As I haven't got the triple monitor setup yet, what will happen when you
actvate DSR in NCP, will it give you the factors relative to the Surround
resolution or the monitor native resolution?

@BenganJ - One more one last test!!!

Game res 1440x900
uset r_scale_y "1.2"
uset r_scale_x "1.2"

The file has a full screen driving res and a dummy set to:
normalized_width: 0.833333
normalized_height: 0.833333
The scale 1.2 increases the driving res to 1728x1080 and increases dummy to 1440x900 to match game res to enable AA. Hopefully.

DSR is scaled on available monitor i think, so 1920x1080 can increase to 4K or triple to 4k res if enabled

EDIT: TEST FILE DELETED

@JHTrucker

Well, I can't see any change at all, but here's the whole thing again!
Note the 144% Scaling when resetting graphics!

@BenganJ - The scaling was to be expected, otherwise dummy and drv would have been bigger and dummy needed to match game res for AA to work... but didn't.

Use original mmcfg - step 2.
If you enable DSR on your 1920x1080 and then set your desktop to one of the new res.
Go in game and select that same res as desktop.
Can you see AA ok? If yes, then that's the only solution to 1440x900 monitors... i can think of.
Too high DSR + AA causes too much blur and massive FPS hit.

@JHTrucker

Okay, I'll see if I can test that DSR on my own as I have a triple monitor desktop,
so maybe I will have to set all 3 monitors to the same DSR resolution or maybe
only the one that runs the game? Why I asked before about DSR was that I was
curious if the Surround resolution would be auto adjusted or if Pancreas has to
rebuild his triple monitor setup before testing it!

@BenganJ - No DSR just gives new res depending on what you have connected.
So your 1920x1080 can use DSR on it's own. So you can see if you see AA when using it.
DSR just scales like in game scaling does.

But another thought, that i can't test, nvidia surround:
When enabled, can you adjust for bezel compensation and thereby increase the overall res. Then triple 1440x900 would be a different res to 4320x900?
That res would then be picked in game.

@JHTrucker

Smart thinking! :D Bezel adjutment within Surround instead of multimon_config.sii
would NOT give 3x1440x900!! Might be a solution! Can I borrow your brain? :lol: :lol: :lol:

@BenganJ

If surround is increased, even a bit, so not to actually compensate (it would push images further away, i think) and then do the adjustments in the mmcfg.

As per post 1 step 2.
For DUAL, TRIPLE and QUAD setups, check this post by JHTrucker for instructions on how to adjust to your setup:
viewtopic.php?p=15893#p15893

Basic bezel adjustments:-
Edit the multimon_config.sii file with notepad to fix the bezels like so:-
These are my settings for 10mm bezels (20mm between images).

name: left.AA
heading_offset: 3.500000 - (4.0 moves closer to center / 3.0 away)

Monitor: right.AA
heading_offset: -3.500000 - (-4.0 moves closer to center / -3.0 away)

In regard to scaling, my triple AA V1 did just that.
Each 1/3 game res image had uset r_scale_x "3" applied to give 3 full res images and hence AA worked.
AA only works when image is FULL game res.
But rendered images were 3xtriple width... mega FPS hit.
Triple AA V2 introduced "dummy" as a full res unrendered image meaning all the 1/3 rendered images now had AA applied to them all because of dummy! (should have named it "Super AA")
So making dummy slightly smaller than game res and applying scaling, scales dummy to full res and rendered image to > full res. That should have applied AA... but it didn't. So we need to avoid a game res of 1440x900, 2880x900 or 4320x900.

And getting AA working was a lot easier than trying to work out why 1440x900 won't work!!!

@JHTrucker

Okay, but now I have to admit that I have sort of lost track of what we should
ask Pancreas to test next time! :shock: :roll: 8-) :oops: Could you please try to formulate
instructions for him, with the new info we've gathered 'til now?

@BenganJ - Something like this?
@Pancrea
Avoid a game res of 1440x900, 2880x900 or 4320x900

Steps 1, 2 & 3 only. Single multimon_config.sii
First thing is to ensure AA gets applied with a single, non 1440x900 resolution monitor.
If not available, set the single 1440x900 monitor to 1280x800 desktop and match in game res.
AA should be seen but the lower resolution will make image a bit blurry.
Now try DSR in NCP with the first scale option in the drop down (don't pick 4x).
Set desktop to the new higher DSR resolution and change in game to the same.
Is AA seen?

Triple multimon_config.sii
Like wise, 3 1440x900 monitors all set to 1280x800 desktops to try triple AA.

Nvidia surround: Using 3x1440x900 monitors.
Create a surround image greater than 4320x900. -> 4400x900? or lower 4200x900?
Set that new res in game.
AA might be seen? if so, change surround resolution further to adjust bezels or adjust multimon_config.sii as per bezel adjustments to suit.

If 3x1280x800 is the only way to get AA on 1440x900 monitors then increase sharpness factor in NPI to help remove the lower res blur.
