External cameras with look function for ATS & ETS2

Option 1 "Basic" - Generic Roof Cam - Low or High.
This is a simple mod that replaces Cam 5 (default key 5) with a roof cam that you can look around from using either mouse / keyboard (Keys menu - Look Left & Look Right) / analogue gamepad / head tracking.
This roof cam is considered 'generic' as it won't line up perfect for every truck used due to their differing heights & widths.
Low = Positioned in front of the top of the windscreen to avoid being enclosed by the possibility of fitted areo kits, higher cab etc.
High = Positioned much higher and above the cab. Shouldn't clash with any fitted areo kits, higher cab etc.

Just add one of the two mods to your mod folder:

Generic Roof Cam.zip

Q - Why didn't you just do this to the existing roof cam (default key 4)?
A - Because only cam 1 & cam 5 allow 'look' functionality.

If you want to move the camera to suit your favourite truck, then edit the mod:
def\camera\units\window_basic.sui and edit values for "head_offset: (0.55, 0.7, -1.2)"
Note: (Left/Right, Up/Down, Forward/Backward).
You could have a Roof Cam mod for each truck but you can only have one Roof Cam mod loaded at a time because they will all have the same modified file inside or use Option 2 below.


Option 2 "Advanced" - Multiple Universal External Cameras.
This is a mod that also requires controls.sii file edits.
It has an easy to use in game menu to allow creating multiple (as many as you can make) external cameras that can then be selected in game for each truck used as required. They all have look functionality.
