World Background Maps
Re: World Background Maps by dOOmERdaZe
Then obviously they take what you give them and size it to a definite area.
One more question though, what if you hit them with a 16384x16384 or
8192x8192? Do you get a higher resolution, but the same size there too?

Re: World Background Maps by dOOmERdaZe
I read on the scs forums I think or somewhere I forget on map background creation
and 8192x8192 does work but a bit sluggish and possible of game crash when zooming in
never tried the 16384x16384 that would probally bring it to its knees haha
the read was stay at 4096x4096 or lower lower looks terrible so I stay at 4096x4096
I did try 8192x8192 no CTD but was bit harder to zoom in and sluggish but game was on DX9
maybe DX11 could be better I will try it again change images to test it.

Okay, thanks for info! BUT, even if DX11 can coup with higher resolution images,
neither SCS nor all users have gone to DX11. I am one of'em, as I think that the AA
for DX11 is totally inadequate. And probably SCS have a long way until all the
code is over at DX11.

Ya they have a long way to go to get it where it needs to be on DX11BenganJ wrote: ↑July 15th, 2019, 4:33 pmOkay, thanks for info! BUT, even if DX11 can coup with higher resolution images,

I run both DX9 and DX11 ... probally take another year plus to get the game
on DX11 and most users as well.

There is only one thing that holds me from downloading the background - UK. Any plans on resizing it on the background to properly fit with the roads?
Re: YKSRSK Turkey 1.8 [1.35.xx-DX11]
Sad that Promods had to shift the map for the Middle East, but I guess its cause they had to draw the borders for the Middle Eastern countries.
Looks like I'm in the same boat as CAPLV, but in my case I had to use the old ui center values from Superzoom to keep this background Google-maps terrain map by gibanica centered...so I was confused when people said the map shifted, when I was the one that got the shift when I used the newest ui center values.
Least Europe is still looking fine, but once there is more of Africa developed the misplacement of cities and roads will become worse. Can't stand the default black background...
Any recommendations to this background? Guess its old enough that the Black Sea isn't fully shown, and I guess no way to shift Middle East without Europe shifting too.

According to dOOmERdaZe, who's background map images you can find
here at the forum, it doesn't matter how big resolution or any other way
you choose the images, the view of them will be limited to a certain map
size by the game engine! Look here for his versions, not updated for a while
though!

@BenganJ
Yes, I heard about his background map, and since it hasn't been updated for awhile I would need to keep the old ui center values that I'm using right now.
Middle East looks like its in the right spot but now UK and Iceland have moved. Guess there's not much to do, when default World Map changes then other backgrounds might not fit so well unless updated.
But I think its alot of work to update the backgrounds, the Google one I'm using hasn't been updated since 2015...
Well, maybe when more countries are drawn I can stomach the default black background, gonna have to take the proper placement of cities and roads over blue water, country names, and terrain eventually.
