When I'm talking about the -homedir startup option, it is not for moving the installation files, it's for moving
among others, the mod folder and the profiles folder. But then you say "My Steam cloud sync SHOULD be on",
which indicates that you use the Steam Cloud to save the profiles, hence the empty profiles folder. Can you
clarify, please!
Lost profile!
Re: Lost profile!
Ok, so first things first. I completely reset my computer and cleaned my hard drive and have only just now re-installed Steam and ATS/ETS2. Before doing all that, I checked (again) that my cloud sync was indeed on, and it was. Like I said, I don't really mess with settings since I know that I'm not computer smart and could easily screw things up.
The 2 profiles are just gone. Even after re-installation, signing and and making sure that cloud sync was enabled, they're just gone. (and now I have to remember the Frankenstein load combo I pieced together for my RoEx/ProMods combo. I found a video on YouTube concerning recovering profiles and I haven't yet hit the SCS forums as it's taken me this long to get my 'puter set back up.
I don't use the -homedir option as I keep everything on my "C" drive - it's the SSD.
I DID just add THIS to the launch options "-oculus -64 bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -rdevice dx11 -mm_pool_size 8192 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffer_size 1000". I had only -oculus and -unlimited logs before.
This DOES make me nervous about playing any other profile for fear of losing it too (sooooo many km's on my Scania!) so maybe I'll try starting a profile from scratch.
This sort of stuff really makes me wish I had paid attention when they tried to teach us about computers in school. I just could not grasp MS-DOS. Oh well, the adventures of a computer gamer, right?
Thanks for all the feedback. I really do appreciate it.

Re: Lost profile!
So, from what I have learned, using the Steam cloud is the problem. I'll just keep my backups on my own computer, thank you very much

Yes, good to know it wasn't at your side, but now you might understand why I NEVER use Steam Cloud to store my profiles.
