ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
Sadly I think it's only a new Paint DLC coming up. Stream from SCS right now.
Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
Yeah, i have seen. As always people talk about important things and they live in their world wasting time with small things. I understand they fail to release Iberia in december, but we are in mid february and no sign. I can only imagine what was the state of the DLC in december.
Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
I think the update was to add support for the new paintjob dlc

Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
16% FPS drop? This is what happens when people are saying "Yes" to anything instead of giving true feedback and critics. Damn.
I can't blame SCS fully for the "fails" because they seem to rely on the community. And if the community always says "yes yes yes" to anything, they think that everything is allright. Unfortunately, as I could figure out, a big majority of ETS players come from Germany and most german players are known to be either "Vanilla" or "ProMods Only" Fanboys. They don't play with mods or only with 1-2. Of course they don't see the problems we see.

Don't ask me about my mods. I'll update them as I please, because I can do whatever the **** I want.

Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta
So, I took a turn and went on the 1.40 OB and have to say a thing or two.
It does not look that bad, It's definetly makes some stuff more fresh. It's okay.
I would guess that nobody of us has a problem with new stuff & innovations but while playing, some questions came into my mind. Look:
1. Is the new lightning system a "complete" product? I fear not. I'm afraid this will backfire like Fmod. Releasing an unfinished product and forcing Modders to rework their stuff over and over again for 3-4 versions/bigger updates. Would be better to test it internally for longer and giving a complete update so we can rework our stuff only one time only and lay our heads back for a long time.
Some modders will lose their shit and retire.
2. The transperancy. I didn't find a guide to rework stuff, don't know if they give something but that's a personal stuff - I maybe didn't found it yet.
3. The performance issue: On Vanilla I had no problems. Seems like they transferred most stuff from the CPU to the GPU. But with some (updated) mods I had pretty big breakdowns in performance. Another hint that the product is unfinished. But as long as the bigger portion community licks SCS' boots, I'm afraid we will need a NASA Super Computer to use ETS/ATS in the future.
I don't know how this will turn out in the end but if my thoughts will be proven correct, we will have a rough time coming upon us.
I will post some stuff on SCS Forums too, Wish me luck, the community will probably kill me for it.
