thank you. i get now with a gtx1070 26-30 fps. if i decrease the AA i will get a stable 30 fps (set my g sync limiter to 30 fps) but i prefer the 4x AA with a stable 30 fps
How high to do have your settings from the first post 'additional settings' like LOD factors?

The reason i ask is because you describe my reason for using 2xAA instead of 4x.
But i only have a GTX760 at 3840x1024.
2xAA is 30fps smooth everywhere.
4xAA dips into 20's too many times to be annoying.
So the only real difference is your rendered image is about 1.5 times wider than mine but your card is significantly better than mine.

@BenganJ - Just thought why not... it works for normal image scaling if you can go beyond 400% but that will cripple any gfx card, i'd expect, and still flicker!

@JHTrucker

When I go to SCS's Modding Wiki today, i get a very outdated documentation, that says
a great deal about how SCS look upon the modding community. It's so damn old that
they are talking about config.sii file! I'm talking here about configuration variables.

@BenganJ - Now that i've taken a screenshot to compare high with 1600% i can't see any difference when zoomed in real close to small objects... might be hard coded to 2 as max?

@JHTrucker

Wouldn't surprise me, referring to the above! We have no way of checking other than plain test. BAAAAHHHHH!

Hi all,

I am using your setup and ATS 1.39 looks amazing, thanks so much for all your findings and hard work!!!

This next section might help others struggling with stutters as this has helped me out in ATS and might be the same for ETS (I don't have ETS).

1. In ATS, if you purchase a trailer, the stuttering starts to happen (sell the trailer and stuttering goes away), this seems to only effect certain users. I'm currently checking to see if this effects me.

2. In ATS, this error may appear in the log
<error> vegetation position pool (10240) was depleted! expect missing vegetation!
solution: set grass density to low

This was a big improvement for me. I always used a high setting but certain area's of the map would have stutters and slight freezes, AI would also stutter at certain times, looking left to right with Tobii head-tracker 5 was always jerky. Setting to low removes the error and stutters. I can now increase your findings with little negative effect and game remains smooth!!! I do have some map mods and other's but try to keep as few as possible so not sure if this is a game bug or one of my mods. I always thought it was my mirror's but no, I can increase mirror distance now. I'll put grass density back to high if another solution fixes the problem.

3. Fine-tune FPS cap
Go to an area that would normally work your system and drop your fps causing stutters. I kept my game settings on high to stress the computer. I use Riva-Tuner to cap fps and monitor FPS and Frametime using graphs.

My current machine:
i7-9700K CPU @ 4.70GHz
Game on SSD
2600mhz 16GB ram
RTX 2080 Super
34" curved Predator monitor 3440 x 1440 @120 G-Sync enabled
Game capped (50fps) to what my machine can handle as a higher value does nothing if fps is fluctuating

-so my plan is to check each individual FPS cap from 45-61 fps at this particular location that works my system. I can get smooth game play outside city limits with 60 fps, but in cities I can drop as low as 45 fps.

Results: (This was my first test before I found out about number 1 and 2 above)
45-48 was stuttering
49 started getting better
50 was smooth
51 got worse
52 - 57 was stuttering
58 started getting better
60 much better but had the drop in fluctuations
61 got worse again.

The best cap for my system is 50 fps.
These FPS numbers 61,60,59,58,57,56,55,54,53,52,51,49,48 etc. Don’t work as well

-I did try disabling G-Sync and setting monitor to 100hz, then with v-sync enabled and 1/2 refresh rate set which gives me 50 fps in game the result was the same capped or not capped at 50 fps. The results were the same as with G-Sync enabled, still smooth and no tearing.

This may or may not help others out (system dependent), just thought I'd share some findings to make game play a little smoother!!!

Cheers, Happy trucking to all
Vincent

@VSigda

Thanks very much for your report. Although, if you browse through this thread,
most of what you say have been dealt with. As you say, maybe it'll help someone
get a smooth gorgeous graphic, which this topic is about. I've had it since quite
long now.

Thanks BenganJ,
lol I'm just playing catch up with all this technology, so much testing and I don't know how you guys keep up with everything but I'm glad we have a good community of fellow truckers always willing to help out!! I'll do a better search next time. It's nice to have ATS somewhat smooth again and with your settings so much better, thanks a bunch for sharing with others

Edit: Sorry I did forget to mention in my first post that these are not my findings but from others, so credit goes to them and not me
