@danilozxf

Freesync and G-Sync are two different solutions for the same feature, made by the two
largest graphic card companies, ONLY to be used on their respective cards.
Freesync on AMD cards
G-Sync on Nvidia cards
BUT, there are monitors out there that support both systems.

EDIT: After visiting Wikipedia I found this statement, but don't ask me for more info about how to use it!
NVidia 10-series, 16-series and 20-series GPUs with driver version 417.71 or higher support FreeSync
And I know we have discussed this earlier in this thread!

@BenganJ

When I said my ignorance I wanted to refer to the lack of knowledge on my part, I didn't mean to be rude

sorry for my English

And I didn't take it as if you were rude! Sorry if I gave you that impression!
I just try to inform the best I can and sometimes even I forget some.

@ BenganJ & JHTrucker
thanks for getting back to me guys, have only just got in so not had a chance to try anything you have suggested. With regard to 4AA and me (thinking) that 8AA is better, well you could be right in that its my wishful thinking but I will do some more testing. My steam launch options are as follows for both ETS" & ATS and think they are what you suggested a couple of weeks back
-64bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_pool_size 4000 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000

I am getting the same game freeze/momentarily stutter on both games at roughly the same intervals.
I have noticed some wierd errors in the logs which I didn't have before going on about boundaries so will revert back to 2AA for a start and see if they still come up.
If you can remember back a week or so I commented on getting over 30fps even though I had chosen v sync 2 in config.cfg and you suggested that something was overriding the config setting which is why we went for half refresh rate in NPI. Do you still think I should change the settings in NPI?
When I get myself sorted I'll enclose copy of multimon config.sii and get back to you with a further update.
Thanks guys :-)

@toni1958 - On all the vsync lines and limiter lines in NPI just click the icon to their right, that defaults the line and the line shows up as grey instead of black text. APPLY.
But basically, vsync=all app control. Then the game vsync is in control of vsync.
Vsync=app control.
Tear=standard
Setting anything else will make the driver be in control of vsync settings.
Hold off on the file until you get the game running smooth as the new file will warm up that gpu even more!
Did you do a clean install of the driver? or perhaps someone else installed the card?
Strange to get a pause in both games but 4xAA won't give log errors, only lower fps than 2xAA. But 30 fps should be easy for 4xAA.
I would be tempted to just delete config.cfg and let the game generate a new one. Then in NPI restore game profile, there's a button to click at the top of the game NPI profile screen.
Then just do Step 1 and 3 again and nothing more, use 4xAA.

4xAA or 8xAA, as you said hardly any difference in gpu usage, so as we get nothing in this world for free, it must therefore only be 4xAA.

Hope you can get this sorted.

As your card is second hand and you don't know how hard, or not, it's be run, perhaps download gpu benchmark software to check your card is running properly and doesn't have a fault (same pause duration) etc. www.guru3d.com

@ JHTrucker

am rapidly going bald here as I am tearing my hair out.....**^%(*&^@"£$%^ game :-)
have only just read your above post and will try tomorrow.
this is how/where I have got to tonight, started a new profile and tried 8AA, there is a definate difference in that the buildings, fences, power lines and on coming vehicles do not shimmer etc but game is very stop/start stuttery.
went back to 4AA and adjusted the LOD to -2500 in NPI and set the sharpening to 70 in NCP..... what a difference that made, everything is so much more crisp and virtually no shimmering/loss of focus on oncoming vehicles.
I haven't touched any vert sync settings in NPI/NCP or in game and now my FPS is going up to 33-34 at times and the game is not flowing smoothly again. This was happening before when BenganJ said that something must be overriding the vert sync "2" in config.cfg which is why we changed it to "0" and set the NPI to half refresh. This made the in game max FPS 30(locked) and the game smoothed out. This was all with the other graphics card and as I haven't touched any of those settings, why do you think my FPS is creeping up again?
Everytime I make an adjustment in NPI and save the new nip file to the game exe. I have to verify the integrity of the game files and it always comes up with the message that 1 file didn't verify and it needs to recover it. Is this usual? It all takes so much time to do :-(
I installed the card myself with a clean install but will do again I think and start from scratch and run a benchmark as you suggest as I've got all those sort of programs on PC and also try a new config.cfg file.
some of the errors/warnings I was getting were due to a mod as both games updated when I switched PC on yesterday and guess one of them was broke, the other errors are due to maps which it seems a lot of other people have been getting too.
Enough waffling, off to bed, tomorrows another day.
Stay safe

@toni1958

I hope you set the LOD to -2.500!!!! I have in NPI V-Sync set to half refresh and Adaptive, working good,
but before that I had in game r_vsync set to 2 and that worked good too. Some people seem to get a
problem when trying in-game r_vsync "2", maybe they have G-Sync enabled though. Those people got
it right with NPI solution. And DON'T forget the uset t_averaging_window_length "60" in config.cfg,
that one seem to really give a smoothness.

I apologize for getting back to you late on this, have been busy at work.

Anyways, I did your suggestions and I appreciate you noticing some slight changes I can make to my settings.

This following clip is from a new profile with no mods installed:

One thing I noticed is it only happens when I'm moving.

Here's a 30 second clip of what I am talking about, this was taken leaving the Denver Airport cargo area.

Regarding monitor settings:

I am running the Single AA settings multi_mon.sii file and have uset_r_multimon_mode set to 4

Thanks, but so far I haven't seen anything that should give you flickering street lights,
by which I assume you mean the street lamp posts. Correct? May I ask, do you feel you
get proper AA beside the lamp posts? What if you look at powerlines, are they complete,
not jagged or divided into smaller pieces? Would it be possible for you to record a short
video where you pass a long row of lamp posts and also some powerlines?

Sorry, but you'll have to excuse me, but what is it you see, that I don't see?
Can you describe, point out, what to look for?

That is alright, I was not that clear in my last message. I made another (short) video that's higher quality:

Looking at the street lights in the background and how they flicker.. When I don't use the NPI tweaks, I don't get that..
