@toni1958

Well, nothing in this scheme is dependent on model of the card, except performance,
so you can start from where you were.

@toni1958 - What does your pc psu label say? 300W, 450W etc next to power cord socket.

EVGA geforce GTX 1080 FTW
Requirements · 500 Watt or greater power supply.

Your current 1050ti uses power direct from the pc motherboard connector where as higher end cards xx60+ need extra power from a connector from the psu and therefore higher watt psu maybe required.

Just a thought.
Enjoy 4xAA with it!

@ JHTrucker

Thanks for that mate, I did ask my friend who originally stuck PC together for me if the PSU would run and RTX2060 and he said should be ok, but that was before I won the GTX1080, I'll give him a shout just to check. Thanks
I'll have a gtx 1050ti going cheap if you fancy an upgrade :-)

@toni1958 - Should be ok then based on this as the 1080 & 2060 have same power requirements.

"Power Consumption · GeForce RTX 2060 Super - On your average system we recommend a 500 Watt power supply unit."

I'll pass on upgrade... 1050ti=770 so only a bit better than my 760. Thanks anyway.
One day i'll treat myself to a full upgrade as the pc is 12 years old, replaced the original gtx280 with the current gtx760 around 2014.

One thing i would say for your new setup, keep at 30 fps (vsync=2), it's better to max the game settings and some of the additional ones in first post with 4xAA. Because of your 5760x1080 resolution i wouldn't expect constant 60 fps everywhere, so 30 constant rather than 60 and drops. But you'll be able to see for yourself what's best.

I second that strongly!

Thanks guys, I was going to ask you the very same question but you beat me to it :-)
I dare say I shall be backwards and forwards on here next week with lots more questions, I think I'm even gonna give your head out of the window looking backwards a go JH once everything else is working properly, at least using H shifter has dropped my FPS and now got ProMods on too which I was never able to do before. The game is sooooooo much better now than I have had before, well, over the last 18 months so can't wait to try it with better graphics card. Night

@toni1958 - If you mean my "TRACKIR Closed window block Option 1" then i'll be happy to help you, if required, in that thread.

Option 1 was made public on April 27th, 2020, 1:42 pm, it's had a total of 61 downloads across all updates to it but as of now no one has yet to comment on actually using it... just aswell i make these for myself and then share in case others might also want a more engaging experience.
So just like the mixed monitor file (26 downloads now) you may be the first and only one to comment there too!

Back on topic... are you fitting the new card?
If so, this is what i do:
Uninstall nvidia driver and shutdown pc.
Unplug power, swap card, connect power connector as required.
Plug in and power up.
Install nvidia driver and select "clean install" option in advance menu not express.
Then do the NPI stuff.

@JHTrucker

Yes I do mean the "Trackir closed window thingy", I just can't see enough in left side window to see whats coming down the road :-)
61 downloads and no one has taken the time or courtesy to let you know if it worked or not, how Flippin rude!!!!!!!
I would very much appreciate some help as just been browsing the topic page and looks a little complicated at first glance, will it work with my logitech webcam? I was using a program called facetracknoir before which worked well up to a point but my main problem was that as I wear glasses for close up stuff and not contact lenses anymore the light was reflecting off my glasses and causing it to not work so well. I also tried opentrack and have got trackir on PC so must have given that a go at sometime too.
Oh, we up to 26 downloads for mixed monitor now, you ought to charge a quid each time as they do for promods if you want the easy download option :-)
Card has been posted so could be here anywhere between tomorrow and Saturday but I'll let you know when, my mate reckons the wires from PSU should already be in the PC in case there aren't any with card. I haven't checked power label on back of PCU yet as it means unplugging everything and dragging tower out from desk. Also saw your other posts so may be getting out of truck to fuel up, or, maybe not coz it will be cold hahahaha.
Thanks for the tips, I remember having to do a clean install before which included manually deleting any nvidia files the add/remove program had left behind but probably would have gone straight to express install. Wish me luck and watch out for black smoke over Northamptonshire as it goes up in flames :-)

@toni1958

Regarding headtracking, including facetracking, which btw is too lightsensitive,
there's a lot more alternatives. I use e.g. opentrack software together with an
Aruco pattern mounted first on a cardboard, to get stability, and then on a cap.
I've used it for many, many years now, working pretty good, but is also a bit too
light sensitive. In the UK you have two companies selling infrared LED based
solutions, Trackhat https://trackhat.org/ and DelanClip: https://delanengineering.com/,
both with cable and wireless solutions. If you haven't read it yet, here's some
info about headtracking I've collected through the years!
