@BenganJ

I've got so many bits of paper here with scribbled notes from you guys, only just seen the one where JH suggested turning HDR off, which I did and hey presto, FPS shot up to 30 almost constantly and GPU is down to 60% usage. What does HDR actually do?? Once again, I can't see any difference, but with it off, I might get to 4xAA afterall.

@Winterway - Just had a quick look at the file (1.jpg) you provided... the AA bit is in the wrong one (DX9) it needs to go in the.... DX1x one, come on guy sort it out!

And for the record, the single file doesn't enable AA it just prevents gfx glitches in driving and menu screens. Only the multi files actually make AA happen.

Hope that's it now, i haven't looked further into your files.

@BenganJ
could you also explain to me what "bloom" is, I read that if I disable HDR then there is a problem with bloom and to turn off in config.cfg, but I have no idea what either of them do :-(

nah guys, even with HDR disabled 4xAA not gonna happen for me, I am destined to be a 2xAA guy the rest of my life :-(

@JHTrucker
did you read earlier on that I cannot choose the screen resolution option in NCP that you suggested, is there any other way to do it?
Definately bedtime now, I'll leave you both in peace

HDR = High Dynamic Range and gives you a sort of better contrast between dark and light areas in an image.
Bloom I have to refer you to this Wikipedia page, takes many worrds to explain!

HDR, if you can't see the difference the keep it off, it's a real fps killer for me with old hardware and AA. But hdr makes things brighten up (bloom), in cab look out of window on sunny day, the sky brightness changes like how you eyes change when move from dark to bright areas.

I don't / can't use nvidia surround as my monitors are connected in a different way. But from what i remember you select the sizes from the left column and add to right column so that are available to use for triple... something like that.

Your, what do i think, pic... good, apart from the right size which i guess is 55%, try 50% to better match up vertically or keep as is if you prefer to see a bigger mirror, it's your game afterall.

AA - If you can run the game standard at 100% scaling, no AA, and get 60 fps with gpu 100%, for example.
Then 2xAA will drop to 30 fps and 4xAA will then drop to 15fps.
So you need a gfx card that's twice as good as yours to gat 4xAA 5760x1080 at 30fps.

Just catching up with my crap 3g data internet connection that keeps dropping off...

Mirrors - i use 100 in config.cfg, if i can't see the traffic coming up behind me then it's not my fault!
Low quality - no deferred meaning no projected light beams from traffic, that sort of thing.
Med quality - the missing low stuff turned on.
high quality - the same as medium but now the wheels on the traffic are turning as they drive past.
Res low & res high = no AA
Res med = AA

It's good that you are still playing... you could have been looking at a dead gpu.
