[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ
Clear F1 uses 2.25x with 1440 and not 1080... if that makes a difference.
If you remember native 1440x900 & 1680x1050 don't get AA either, perhaps there's a similar issue with certain DSR res. But DSR was the answer to fix them... see note in first post.
It's hard to test this without having each type of native res monitor and apply DSR to them all.
In regard to your 980 values, the LOD are still in that file. Perhaps your 980 980 980 is too high now.
# Currently we use:
#
# - first lod class for trees.
# - second lod class for grass (detail vegetation).
#
# Note:
# Make sure that (end - start) distance for grass
# is not higher than end/9.0 for proper lod fading.
leaves_lod_start: (240.0, 410.0, 50.0)
leaves_lod_end: (300.0, 460.0, 100.0)
Try end-start values within end/9.0
980 & 880? or similar lower values instead of forcing no LOD change by making them all the same.
What's strange is... it's always stated "grass (detail vegetation)" but vegetation in game is trees. Grass has it's own drop down.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
Well, in game_data.sii there's settings for both trees and grass, but in game I think there's no trees, only grass.
In game it is not setting about LOD only detail. All my settings are within the recommendations, like end/9.
What I don't get though is why they have made it worse now. We'll see, but I've had the problem BOTH in ATS
AND ETS2!
Regarding DSR, isn't 1440x900 and 1680x1050 game related resolutions giving us problems relative to NATIVE
resolution? I have NO idea actually, just guessing here now!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ
That's what i meant. Native 1440x900 and 1680x1050 are the only 2 res that have no AA. That we/i know of.
2560 x 1080 has AA but not with DSR. So it's the opposite problem for that ultra wide res.
I'll test my 3840x1024 with DSR for AA but if i remember correctly i was getting 1 or 2 fps at 4.00x so didn't really check for AA... March is along time ago.
This is the link i was talking about:
Problematic resolutions: Currently - 1440x900 and 1680x1050 have no AA
Here's a workaround to get AA working on a single monitor:
Complete Steps 1, 2 & 3 from first post.
Nvidia Control Panel - DSR - pick 1.78x (lower don't work / higher not needed).
Set screen resolution on desktop to the new value:
1440x900 --> 1920x1200 (untested, need some one to test)
1680x1050 --> 2240x1400
And then change in game resolution to match.
viewtopic.php?p=16544#p16544
It may be that not all DSR values work, like above, i tested 1680x1050 and only 1.78x worked, didn't test higher as i was just enabling AA on that res monitor and not enhancing it.
So Jarinage with 2560 x 1080 probably needs to find that correct DSR value to work and not the DSR value he'd like to use.
And then tell us what value worked so you can note it for others!
LOD's. When SCS was running ATS beta, i read in one of the change logs something about all vegetation details removed from LOD's... something like that. I thought the game must have been putting details you can't see on LOD trees in the distance. But having now used ATS 1.38 public i think that meant only show high detailed, medium & low can now look like shit... i use medium.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
Yeah, you're probably right as usual, it just becomes a mess damn fast as we all have
different starting environments and in this case, then get different results!
Regarding LODs. But SCS still have LOD setting left in game_data.sii. The r_grass_density
hidden I can understand. And WHY does it crash the game when setting doesn't suits them?

@BenganJ
You're 980/990 is crashing the game?
Does it do that on a no mods profile as well?
SCS, again during the beta said something like reverting new vegetation system... people where reporting trees appearing in roads.
So they have certainly changed something in that regard whilst not reverting all of it due to SSAO i'd expect.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
On ATS I just removed my LOD changing mod and all was well.
On ETS2 I had to lower the r_grass_density one level, from "3"
to "2" also, to get it to work without crashing. Could be due
to the difference in vegetation types, deserts contra woods!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Okay folks! I'm not 100% sure here, but Arayas told me he had to delete his config.cfg,
so that the game could create a brand new one, so I compared the new ETS2 v1.38 one
with my old v1.37 one. I could then see that the ONLY change, or rather addition, that
the game had done was to add uset r_ssao "2", i.e. SSAO medium to the config. So, I then
disabled SSAO and drove the problematic part between Kursk and Poltava and had NO
problems at all. This is not for sure, mind you. I have to test a lot more, but I'll report
here when done! Maybe SSAO has been changed by SCS for the latest patch in ATS and
for the release version of ETS2. It was at that time my problems started, in ATS I had
no problems at all before that last patch. Good Night folks!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
=============== Folks! ===============
Everything is cool! It was just me jumping to conclusions when
I saw my beloved graphics being at risk! What happened
was this. Switching from ETS2 v1.37 to 1.38 I didn't realize that
the game initialized SSAO to Medium level as a default, which
meant that among other things in the scenery, the vegetation
density level I used was causing FPS drops and stuttering, even
crashes. First I thought that SCS had done something bad to it's
vegetation handling, so I removed the LOD enhancements I have
always used and also the extra grass density I had configured.
Of course that helped, as the SSAO now didn't have to process
that much vegetation shadows any more. Doing a comparison
between a v1.37 and v1.38 config.cfg, due to a hint by Arayas,
made me realize the fact that SSAO had been set by the game.
That moment I realized what was the real cause of the problem
for me. Disabled SSAO in game, took another drive passing the
same locations, as when I had the problems and ALL WAS WELL.
SIGH! I can keep my beloved graphics and smooth game behavior!

Great so i've deleted my map for nothing? It was you?
just fucking with you
just fucking with you
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@Arayas
Who said you should delete anything? Well, dig it up from the waste paper basket, mate!
Just joking. I'm really sorry for not thinking thoroughly before reporting those problems.
