@paokkerkir

SCS aren't working far away from the center yet, so the distortion
from the map projection isn't big, therefore I think they just use
an old World View BG! It is still working for their map data!

EDIT: And mind you, Mandelsoft has added his "cheated" BG to it
on free hand!

On the comparison though, turkey seems to be aligned, so does the countries just underneath turkey. This is a comparison of scs background with pm background. How does your bg compare there? I really cannot grasp how it has that big misalignment just there, when the pm bg seems somewhat accurate at that area.

@BenganJ don't take it the wrong way, I'm just trying to understand.

@paokkerkir and the ones that is interested

This is how the Lambert Conic map projection works! The parameters for the ETS2 game as specified by SCS is:

Code: Select all

map_projection: lambert_conic
standard_paralel_1: 37
standard_paralel_2: 65
map_origin: (50, 15)
This is how the projection is done:
Lambert_conformal_conic.jpg
The resulting map created is pretty undistorted between the two STANDARD PARALLEL latitudes, but the further
south of the 37th one and the further north of the 65th you go, the more distortion you'll get. If you move along the
latitude circles, it's 100% correct.

Now, SCS's map data is almost totally between the 37th and the 65th latitude, so they don't really need a BG in
correct map projection, but Promods with their northern Scandinavia and now Middle-East and Egypt should use
it. One more thing that has an impact on the PMME map data positioning is that the further east and west you
move from the map origin, which SCS has located slightly east of Prague, the map content will be more and more
rotated. That's the main reason the Middle-East was dislocated and it definitely didn't get any better when they
relocated it in the wrong direction.

I hope this will explain some of your worries and wondering thoughts!

EDIT: The location to the east for YKSRSK and Project Turkey was the reason for rotating that map data so that
Baku would be correctly positioned.

@olaf28

Thanks mate, but this is not a fight, hopefully it will make the "other" side think a bit!
No it doesn`t. They just see it as an attack on the ProMods team and close the thread.

Edit: I missed a couple of messages in between.
