@JHTrucker

The quality is definitely good. But in the tests so far, uset r_sun_shadow_texture_size "8192" lowered the level but didn't solve it.

@clear F1

The use of DSR 1.78x means almost double the number of pixels to render for the game
and I think you end up at the very limit of what is available for you, so if a map area is
badly optimized or just very demanding you will reach below the limit and hence the
stuttering. Running at desktop and game resolution of 1080p60 did not give you problems
before, if I remember correctly, so sadly that might be what you have to revert back to.
No one will be more glad than I if you can find a way to still be using DRS though!

@BenganJ

The above 8192 test results are for a game played at 1920x1080 (vsync"2"). DSRx 1.78 drops fps even at 4096. :(

I play at

Code: Select all

"2560x1440", vsync "2" and DSR 1.78 sun_shadow_texture_size "8192"
and all is good. :D :D :D

@clear F1
Lots of vegetation (more than standard game) at ultra shadows will be a big fps hit with 8192.

With my old gtx760 i use low shadows and 8192 and that looks fine to me (but i can't go higher anyway). You could test that just to see if fps still drop badly.
You said grass set to off works but looks awful. Try grass on low instead of high, if you didn't.

You never said if you are always recording.
I assume recordings have audio also, and that may have a too higher setting?

There seems to be a difference between gtx1660+ and what should be an equal or better gtx1070

What do you mean by that? When I was about to buy a new card I compared the GTX1660Ti to both
RTX 20-series and GTX 10-series and it was then lying between a RTX2060 and GTX1070 with the
last one on top. I don't know about clear F1, but I have then also overclocked mine quite a bit.
But still, I experience much the same problems at the same places as clear F1 and I think it is
because of us running somewhat only slightly over our limits, so when we experience some
badly optimized or heavy demanding parts of maps the FPS dips below that limit, hence stutter.

It was just to point out something is odd between them with this situation after Tapir said his 1660 is fine with DSR.
I'm not arguing about it.
