@CSharpDude

Which versions of NPI and the driver are you using? Would it be possible for you to
downgrade to the previous Nvidia driver, just to see if anything happened there. For
Nvidia BIG things are soon happening, release of RTX3000 series, so maybe they have
done something for that in the latest driver.

If that doesn't work I want screenshots of your NPI settings!

Yes, I have had to abandon it lately!
hello there, just wanted to chime in on this.
Project NG 2.0, the weather part is still working just fine in 1.38 (the default climate atleast). I use it with promods and just default SCS graphics (and NPI ofcourse), though i dont know if the texture or alternate lines work as they dont interest me, as i am only looking for a decent weather mod ala Piva.

@BenganJ

The issue occurred without any upgrades to the NVidia drivers. So I doubt rolling back will do anything. There is obviously a reason though... I just can't find it. Here are my NPI settings. BTW, I have Anti Aliasing fix ON. I tried it both on and off.

Thanks for helping!

@CSharpDude

Well, to me that is pretty odd NPI settings. From where have you got them?
Do you have a G-Sync compatible monitor and using that feature? I have seen
on the NPI site the odd behavior of the setting for Frame Rate Limiter as a HEX
value default. For me it is set to Off by default, but I'm using NPI 2.3.0.10! I
know you use a GTX 1070 card, but WHY does the log say this? Have you had
an AMD card earlier and still have the EyeFinity support activated?

Code: Select all

[ags] AMD EyeFinity disabled
Depending on what your answers to my questions are, we might do some tests.

@BenganJ
The DSR fix, set desktop resolution at the same DSR resolution as in game, isn't a DSR issue... it's an SCS resolution bug.

Simple test:
Set windows desktop to native monitor resolution and in game resolution to the same, take a screenshot (F10), exit.
Set windows desktop to a lower resolution and start game, leave in game resolution alone, take a screenshot (F10), exit.
Now compare the two screenshots files.
The first will have properties, dimensions at your native resolution.
The second will have properties, dimensions at your lowered desktop resolution and will be a much smaller file size.

Conclusion:
The game only accepts the current windows desktop resolution as the maximum resolution to use regardless of how much higher the in game resolution is set at.
Simply set desktop resolution back to native so game will once again run at native resolution.

Tested on win 7 x64 GTX760 and win 10 cheap laptop using intel gfx. Same results, so not an Nvidia or NPI AA issue.

This is an important issue to fix. If you have a 4K monitor (or higher) and struggle to read it in desktop use and lower the desktop resolution to make it readable you'll then only get that resolution in game.

I'm not a member of SCS forum, if anyone wants to test the above and comes to the same conclusion, feel free to bug report it. Thanks.
If it then gets fixed, that means no more DSR resolutions needed for windows desktop.

Perhaps add this to the end of step 3:
For best AA results, set your monitors native resolution for your windows desktop resolution and in game resolution.

@CSharpDude Your log shows this:
00:00:00.892 : uset r_device "gl"
You're not in DX11 mode, hence no AA.

Thanks BenganJ and JHTrucker. You're right - on a whim I tried OpenGL - but only after the AA problem appeared with DX11. I just now launched the game ensuring DX11 was ticked on the launch dialog in Steam. No joy. Here's that line from the log now: 00:00:00.870 : uset r_device "dx11"

The settings I used were from this post. I also found what is supposed to be a later version of NPI. Tried that too. Version is DmW 3.50. Still the same result.

Perhaps it's just that I'm expecting too much... If possible I'll post a video of what I'm seeing later tonight.

Thanks again for your assistance.

@CSharpDude

KEEP AWAY from that DmW 3.50 version of NPI, that is a guy that have started another development
and he is very interested in virtual money, bitcoin and such! KEEP TO the original, 2.3.0.12 as the
latest! I've asked another person to degrade the driver, so I might return with info on that!
