[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@chaplindev - This is just odd.
Your game is at 100% scaling = AA
00:00:00.712 : uset r_scale_y "1"
00:00:00.712 : uset r_scale_x "1"
The mirrors are at 100% scaling = Medium resolution in game.
00:00:00.712 : uset r_mirror_scale_y "1"
00:00:00.712 : uset r_mirror_scale_x "1"
And mirrors are 'high quality'
00:00:00.713 : uset r_deferred_mirrors "2"
Both should = Mirror AA
You said mirrors are low res and blurry, if you change in game 'mirror resolution' to 'high' does the mirror become sharp? But it still won't have AA.
Your problem is ATS, do you have ETS2? because others have seen a difference in mirror quality between both games, ATS being worse but still working, whereas you say no mirror AA at all.
You said "before 1.45 works perfect for me", so it's a game update change rather than a driver update change that broke the mirrors.
Just checked my ATS 1.45.3.1 @ 4xMSAA and I see AA ok on the mirrors but I'm no older driver 472.12.
Try this by Robinicus:
"switch your mirror resolution from medium to high, save, exit game, correct back to medium in the game config and the issue goes away"

I will attach an image of how I see the mirrors when I refer to blurry and low resolution.
You said mirrors are low res and blurry, if you change in game 'mirror resolution' to 'high' does the mirror become sharp? But it still won't have AA => Yes, I did and no changes detected.
Try this by Robinicus: => Tested and same results
Your problem is ATS, do you have ETS2? => Yes I'll test now in ETS2 to see if I have the same issue.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Sorry if I missed this somewhere in this (very long :P ) thread, but is there a way to "hack" in at least some sort of limited SSAO if using these NVPI settings? I love the image quality, but I definitely feel the absence of SSAO as well. Most of the time the game looks better all-around with these settings, but some areas are significantly more "flat" without SSAO (example: bridge support structures)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Q - Why can't we have NPI AA and SSAO?
A - Basically, when MSAA is forced on to the rendered image it seems to break or remove the depth information within the image. That depth information is what SSAO needs in order to work out what needs to be darker.
It's the same reason why you can't use reshade.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Yeah I read through all that, was just wondering if any enterprising individual might have come up with a work around. I see some people putting ambient occlusion settings in there NVPI profiles, not sure why. Anyway, thanks everyone who contributed info to this thread! :)Tapir wrote: ↑September 5th, 2022, 1:07 amQ - Why can't we have NPI AA and SSAO?

@ZeroHour
Here's your question, asked by another (August 11th, 2022) that prompted the addition of the that Q&A update.
You'll see why ambient occlusion was used, in my response.
https://roextended.ro/forum/viewtopic.p ... 676#p52676
Note, I would have liked to get SSAO to work, just for completeness, but I guess some things aren't always possible (for me at least). So we'll have to wait and see what SCS's DX12 update will bring, when it arrives sometime in the future.
For now, and the last 2 and a half years, at least we've had proper in game AA.
One question to ask yourself.
Can you run the game at 400% scaling (therefore NPI AA disabled) with SSAO on and get acceptable fps, everywhere?
If yes, then you can carry on wishes 4xMSAA & SSAO worked together.
If no, stop wishing, job done. They're both very demanding processes.
Sorry if any of that came across a bit harsh, it wasn't meant to.

Yes, I can run 400% scaling + SSAO @ 4k on my 3080 Ti - but it does require running 1/3rd Vsync for stable framerate (40 fps.)
I go back and forth between good AA and SSAO :P You're right, we'll just have to see what SCS is cooking up (although I'm not holding my breath...) All we really need is quality TAA in my humble opinion.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@chaplindev - I think we have different ideas of what "blurry low res" looks like, I was expecting a much worse looking image.
But clearly you can see a difference between 1.45 and your previous 1.44 setup, hence your help request.
I'm not sure what more I can do as all the required settings are correct.
Texture filtering - LOD Bias (DX) ----------------- '-1.5000' <-- increase to -2.0 or -2.5?
But that will sharpen the whole image, too high and it'll look awful.
Or use NCP game profile sharpening options on/off.
You could test other Antialiasing compatibility (DX1x) values: https://roextended.ro/forum/viewtopic.p ... 616#p46616
