[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
Yep, that might be an interesting test! The idea passed my mind,
but as we didn't have that resolution listed as non-functional with
AA, I dropped it, especially as we ought to have heard about it
earlier!
@guigehlen
The settings JHTrucker talk about you'll find in your config.cfg file.
Do these tests and report back, thanks!

@JHTrucker & BenganJ
I've made both test without success! And u are right @JHTrucker, the notebook gfx cards don't have the DSR option unfortunely!
And I also don't know if my card can handle this settings, this would be a try kkkkkkk
But the game it's still beautiful even witchout AA, I turn off the shadows, so the lack of AA are less perceptible!
In a couple months or maybe weeks, I'll buy a new screen (my current 2º screen i borrow from my auntie kkk), then with a 1920x1080 screen I'll test again!
If still dosen't work then probabily will be because my gfx card blocking it!
But I'm really grateful for the two of u trying to help me! And if anyone have a new idea about this problem, I'll be here to test!

It's always sad when this scheme doesn't work, because it makes such a difference
to the graphics experience! Thank you for doing the tests and we'll see if we can
verify the result in some way, so that we in that case can add the additional info
about resolutions NOT working.

Hi guys, just to let you know I haven't deserted you both, got graphics card and took pc apart and it's still in bits :-)
Psu was powerful enough to run card but only had 1 pcie socket with no cable and card has 2 sockets. Tried to find a splitter cable but psu socket is only 6 pin and card are 8 pin, had no luck with either splitter or single cable with the right plug on it. Ended up ordering new psu and I'm still waiting for it, hopefully tomorrow. Read that card wouldn't have got enough power from split cable anyway so thank heaven for black friday. Truck "back on road" for weekend I hope. Take care. T

Yes, a bit of research BEFORE buying is a good thing!
Thanks for report and Good Luck with new PSU!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@guigehlen - 1280x720 should have worked if NPI was set correctly.
Try with just your laptop screen - unplug the external one in case that is causing 1280x720 to not work.
What is your FPS when not using this?
If you get 40FPS on average @ 100% scaling (for example), then 2xAA will mean 20FPS and then 4xAA will mean 10FPS. I don't know what gfx card you have.
If you increase monitor resolution to 1920x1080 the FPS will drop even further.
Or in other words, set 400% scaling and see if it plays ok for you (no AA), if not (low FPS), don't buy a new monitor, you need a new laptop/pc to use this AA setup.
@BenganJ - Troublesome resolutions:
1280 720 1.777777778 AA
1280 800 1.6 AA
1366 768 1.778645833 NO AA
1440 900 1.6 NO AA
1600 900 1.777777778 NO AA
1680 1050 1.6 NO AA
1920 1080 1.777777778 AA
1920 1200 1.6 AA
2560 1440 1.777777778 AA
3840 1024 3.75 AA
5760 1080 5.333333333 AA
5760 1200 4.8 AA
Width / height value was to see if that was the issue but as 1440x900 is the same value as 1920x1200 then that isn't important.
A window 1800x900=no AA, 1900x900=no AA but 1920x900=AA.
Height isn't important, width is the determining factor for AA to work.
A while back (you may remember? when i made the "smaller files") i discovered that my AA.Enabler code in the multimon file didn't need to match the game res width & height after all, it only needed to match the width for AA to work, so setting it's height to zero still meant AA was applied.
Conclusion:
Resolution width > 1280 but < 1920 don't get AA applied.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@toni1958 - Hope you bought an expensive psu? £20 500w isn't the same at £80 500w.
These gfx cards need huge amount of power from a dedicated supply from the psu (30A on 12v rail, i think) and so can't therefore be split or shared with other items.
Thought you were teasing us by holding off the upgrade info.
What with you and Benganj properly taunting us with no info from his new mega screen!... yet.

@JHTrucker
Thank you for that marvelous report, BUT does that mean that 1024x768 will/will not get AA?
I see no test below 1280!
EDIT: Do we have ANY idea why this is the case? >1280 - <1920 No AA?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ - My monitors are 1280x1024, i get AA 1024x768 & 800x600.
I'm running 3072x768 4xAA instead of 3840x1024 2xAA and 2400x600 also works.
I've added the conclusion line to the workaround post.
Yes, the idea was to do with the in game menu size 1440x900, i think.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@JHTrucker
I'm buying a new monitor because I need one to work, as i said my actual are borrowed! I've been in love with one for a few months kkkkk
About my gfx card, I've a GT940m, it's week, but on TruckersMP with Promods+ME+Late Autunm the game runs at 60fps almost 100% of the time! But yeah, with 400% of scale things start to be a bit unplayable! Right now I'll do this try in 720p without the second monitor pluged, if doen't work I'll put the setting in-game on 150%-200% and the in-game AA on ultra! And if even the in-game AA doesn't work then I've nothing to do besides play as the game already is!
My plans to 2021 is to mount a Desktop with a GTX3060ti, if everything goes right I'll be able to active the AA kkkkkkkk
