World Background Maps

Hahahaha, if I were you I wouldn't go for that much in one shot!
Use what you have used before but take it in much smaller parts.
One country at a time at most! I don't know how much you know
about the map projection SCS uses, the Lambert Conic one, but
one characteristic of it is that on the circles that the cone cuts
out on the sphere, the two so called standard parallels there's
no error or distortion, but in between and south and north of
them the error just get worse. So, going eastward or westward
doesn't hurt as much as going up or down.

As I said before I'm not good in those things and I'll stay with my old background until somebody do a new one for me

Would it be possible for you to share that image with me in a PM? Then I could
take a look at it, but if, then ZIP it together with the /def/editor_data.sii that
you use.

It's in bad quality and it's rounded
I just need a new one.

Ah, then it will fit everywhere, except in corners!

Re: World Background Maps by dOOmERdaZe
That's not looking bad. but as it is covering that large area, I think it
needs to be in the correct map projection, which I suspect it isn't now.
And I see that you have rotated it a bit, which probably also is needed.
BUT, as I don't know your registering parameters, which should be in the
/def/editor_data.sii file, I have NO idea if it is usable.

Re: World Background Maps by dOOmERdaZe
Mate, I had a look and compared it with my Lambert Conic image.
It's hard to do, but I get a feeling that it should be rotated a bit
more to adjust to Saudi Arabia and down to Aden, but on the other
hand, if one does that, it won't fit with Turkey, it should be rotated
back! That makes me think, that the image is covering a way to large
area, with a not corresponding map projection, thereby it is almost
impossible to get the whole area registered at the same time. As I've
said before to you, I would have chosen a much smaller area and mapped
e.g. one country at a time, with a new BG for each. Then it will be
easier to register the smaller area each time.

Not only me needs a new background. :D And I'm not good in those so complaciated things with map projection and etc. :?
