World Background Maps

I saw old mod for 1.25 with background for EAA and ROS! It's not working now but you don't have to use 2048x2048, 4096x4096 and etc. but you can also use e.g. 3072x3072. I hope somebody we'll do also background with Turkmenistan and Iran. I'm willing to do some for my mod but idk how to get matching image. Doomerdaze, maybe you tell us how you did your background? :D What software did you used to got that nice looking satelite map?

For my background image in Map Editor, when I made my two islands,
I used the following web-tool in cooperation with a Chrome Extension
called Fireshot, to get the picture off the tool. But then I could use any
resolution, easier then! The tool is called:

I have updated the EAA mod but still need to add some terrain to the map where they added a few cities and some changes to the EAA map need an update to the the deleted europe mod from David2849? as well with the other deleted europe mod by SlavikSD still has that skew across the EAA map David2849 fixes that in his deleted mod but have not seen the update to that mod or I missed it.

yes you can change image I have done 2048x2048 3072x3072 4096x4096 8192x8192 etc.. but never made the BG bigger to cover more area per say I took my shots from google sat can't really remember it was some time back and I use paint.net.
To get the images to I used the base images of the game and blew them up and all aligned by hand for the most part it really took me some time just to get where it is now. I used no special software just google and paint.net :) trail and error cause when I started this mod I really had not much knowledge on how to really just took a lot of reading google searching etc ..etc.. getting it to align in the different images was the hardest at least for me.

It is in BC3/DXT5 format, no mipmaps. Have a look!

Just change mode in Google Maps from normal to satellite and take a look on borders of your screen.

Isn't it too small for EAA now? and UK will need some work but it's a good start!

You now explain "rounded", aren't you? Well, I used the web-tool I pointed you
to to get the linked image. Can you do anything with it, other than looking at it
that is?

EDIT: I made it HIGH resolution and covering a LARGER area than we need, so
that one can adjust it for our need! :roll: :roll: :roll:

EDIT2: Cut the image to the area you wish and then scale it to an accepted resolution!
Maybe you have to load it into a graphics editor like Photoshop or Gimp to drag it here
and push it there, whatever. PLAY WITH IT! :D :D :D
