What would be nice if SCS would make that Background creation easier and with maybe a Software tool to help in the task plug a few values
here and there whola!! They need to cutoff the limitation to creating BG maps for the game make the area you need and done with said tool maybe?
Also maybe its a Engine limitation (DX9)? I know it has limits I have tried no result on the square default SCS which it is now dunno? we are now on
DX11 so the possible could be endless .. wishful thinking ... :) Only been working on the Promods GB setup at the moment.
I do it mostly by hand and wing it. :) on the creation of BG. Maybe the guy (Arayas) Mapping guru can make such a tool .... :)

Well mate, keep them backgrounds coming! As you said yourself,
it would be pure wishful thinking that SCS would do it! :D

Here is a thought if SCS runs out of room per say for map expansion and DLC 's they are gonna have to up the background limitation :)
I have tried with just a plain white background texture bigger than 4096x4096 does not work still square so it is probally hard coded in the engine
i would imagine so now mod are in such thing is gonna make it happen unless SCS does in the engine. Besides any thing larger than 4096x4096
at least from what I have tried makes the zoom sluggish and somewhat unresponsive. so rule of thumb is 4096x4096 or 2048x2048 works the best imo.

Sorry mate, but I'm a pessimist about this! SCS has known now for many years,
that there is maps covering a lot more space than their background predicts.
Either they don't give a damn OR there is a valid reason for them to limit the
size, maybe even in the engine. As I haven't messed with these kind of images
for backgrounds, can you tell me what happens if you choose 2048x2048 size
instead of 4096x4096? Does it cover the same area or a smaller one?

high res as possible and such thinking they don't give a damn :(
