I don't understand this type of discussion at all. The team is doing a job and would like a small compensation for the effort (in whatever form).
I don't think it is a small compensation. The reason I asked this question about what costs the TerraMaps team is making, is because of the Gold/Platinum Patreon membership. This means you have to pay a minimum of €11,- per month to play Road to Africa. The cheapest Patreon membership of €5.50 per month is not enough. So, that's why I was curious about why you have to pay quite a high price in order to use this map.
Of course you could choose to pay €11,- for once, then stop your Patreon membership, and you can play Road to Africa v1.0. But if you want to play Road to Africa v1.1 you again would have to pay €11,-. This means that if you want to play with the newest updates for Road to Africa you will have to pay €11,- several times. And in the end that can become a lot of money, and that just for one map mod.
Look, I'm not criticizing this forced Gold/Platinum membership. The TerraMaps team has created Road to Africa, and they are free to ask whatever price for their work. For me the price is just way to high, so I have to wait for the free version, which is not a problem at all.
Also, I'm not criticizing the quality of Road to Africa. I've just watched the 2nd trailer and especially Chad looks very, very interesting; it's a totally new way of driving off-road, and I'm really looking forward to it.
But, because the cheapest Patreon membership is not enough in order to play Road to Africa, it just has made me wonder about why Road to Africa is so expensive. That's all.
