EDIT: with grimes spring mod 30 fps and random CTD's (Iterator outside array boundaries)
without grimes mod 65-70 fps no CTD's

I also had random CTDs with that warning when using Late Autumn/Mild Winter. What seems to have fixed it for me was lowering the vegetation draw distance to standard when generating the ProMods def file. Another possible fix would be lowering the grass density within the game settings. Other than that I haven't had any issues with Grimes's mods on ROEX or any other maps.

The only thing left is realistic brutal weather that i personally dont like, it needs many many improvements, but many people do. But the other day i read somewhere that the problem with this mod is that the author dont listen to player feedback, so the mod isnt improving at all. It needs way less fog, better day/night transitions. BETTER NIGHTS (they look awful) and other things. But apparently this has been problems since way very earlier versions of the mod, and never changed the author of themod just doesnt care, everything is fine....

You also have the weather 2.5 mod (official scs forums) another alternative if you just want skyboxes and more overcast environments.
The problem with this mod is that it makes the cabin too dark, for unkonwn reasons, thats why i dont use it.

I personally used png (they say its the best graphics mod) for a month (been playing these games for about four months...), and i discarded. Not worthy. The improvements are not that big. Not a single graphic mod is. Because i use many many mods. In the moment i add something like a graphics mod, the game starts having micro freezes here and there and it breaks all the immersion. Many people live with it, but i just cant. With 130 mods in the mod manager...

The only reason i ever will want a graphic mod is because i cant stand the lighting of the game. In ATS there are moments where you basically need sunglasses to be able to drive. So i did look for a graphics mod that will somehow mitigate that, but i couldnt find it, so in the end, i just went back to vanilla weather. That is good enough. And no fps drops or whatever.
