[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Has anyone used the latest version of Nvidia Profile Inspector, aimed at Nvidia Driver?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Hey, i´m reading here since over a year and love the way to add a better look to ATS and ETS. Worked very well last winter when i was playing 1.43, but last week i´ve updated my system to all new drivers and versions and since then i have no AA in the mirrors.
Disabled everything and set all settings from post 1 again. Config.cfg and NPI everything is set correct, but the AA in the mirrors does not work.
Virtual mirrors show AA correctly. Are there any changes made to the game in 1.46?
i can´t get it working in ETS2 or ATS.
Hope someone can help me.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@KARU0920 - I haven't tried it but game version 1.37/1.38 broke NV AO and so I wouldn't expect it to start working again because of an NPI update.
------------
@BlueG6o - Just tested ATS 1.46 and it's all still working for me.
Your NPI settings are correct as you get AA on the rest of the screen, virtual mirrors are part of the main screen while real mirrors are rendered separately and also need to be 100% scaled to match the 100% scaling of the game image.
This is what sets mirrors to 100%:
uset r_mirror_scale_y "1"
uset r_mirror_scale_x "1"
If you then change in game 'mirror resolution' to high instead of leaving it on medium then the mirrors will be 400% and therefore no AA applied.
Here's what I see:
Left image is scaling 125% to disable AA.
Right image is scaling 100%.
That's with 4xMSAA & 4xSGSS, although I only use 2x with my old system.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
I wonder if this trick(s) solves the jagged shadows all around and the appearance as if no AF is active. Right now it feels like road is rendered as I drive on a pretty close range even though my settings & system specs at highest.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@baranismen
Check NPI:
--- Anisotropic filtering mode ------------------------- 'User-defined / Off'
--- Anisotropic filtering setting ----------------------- '16x'
--- Texture filtering - Quality ------------------------- 'High quality'
and set uset r_anisotropy_factor "1"
This AA doesn't affect the shadows, but you can increase the shadow resolution to reduce the blocky look.
The higher the number the greater the fps hit will be especially where there are lots of trees!
set r_sun_shadow_texture_size "8192" or "10240" or "12288" or "14336" or "16384" // Default 4096.
You can lower shadows 'ultra' to 'high', 'medium' or 'low' and you'll still get higher resolution shadows but fewer of them, if you need to boost your fps.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
This is insane, and not worthy. If we were talking about a next-gen game, sure. But come on, really? at 8k, shadows should already look perfect.
Not a single game uses those sizes (more than 8k) in shadows lol, not even NEXT GEN games. This should give you a hint.
This game has poor graphics and we need to live with hit, shadows look ok at 4k already because you know what you are playing. Dont ask for more.
The loss of performance doesnt compensate to have just slighty better shadows. And it wont matter if you use 8k or 16k, shadows will always look blocky and jagged in many situations.
The game engine is just not prepared to manage REAL high resolution shadows.
Again, not worthy.
And many "features" like AO are just placebo. They look horrible. Who needs AO in this game? think on it. No one. Because its terrible better to not use a broken feature than use it at all.
I honestly barely see any difference at all. But yup, people get excited when they see this as an option lol.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Hey first time posting in here, first of all I want to thank you all for a Godsend thread that made the games look so much better.
I have a Question.
I fiddled around with the settings and found that adding the ETS2 exe to the Nvidia ATS Profile and setting Multimon setting in the game config to 0 then starting the game in 125% scaling, go into the game then back to Graphic menu and set scaling to 100% and everything works. Is that a only me thing?

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@n3mes1s - Yes the shadow values are over the top... but they do enhance the shadows and that's the point.
The game engine is what it is, we can't change that, but in here we wanted to make the best of it. No one has to use these values.
-----
@bhj - All I can say is... Expect problems if you don't follow steps 1, 2 & 3.
Multimon has to be 4 for the game to use the required file otherwise you'll see glitches for single monitor or no AA for multi monitor setups.
Adding ets2 exe to ats profile isn't a problem as long as you then delete the ets2 profile or at least remove the ets2 exe from the ets2 profile.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Okay no bother then Just thought I would tell that I have been playing no glitches´n problems without the Multimon file by starting the game 125% scaling, setting it back to 100% and all is fine been playing like I told for 2 days now with no errors. Single monitor I have to say.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@bhj - When not using the single multimon file.
In 1.36-1.37 the glitch was transparent driving screen when switching to/from menu.
In 1.38+ the glitch is black screen if you set ssao on when switching to/from menu.
The point of the file is to produce a more elegant solution that prevents problems and doesn't require the user to keep changing scaling back and forth.
I'm just not sure why you seemingly prefer not to use the file.
