I know this up to the creator of the map, but why should a map mod use resources from every DLC? Can't they just use the DLC's that are right next to that map?

The main reason is that you can use a bigger variety of assets and prefabs to make it more realistic (e.g. my map mod uses materials from all map DLC's available right now because you can't use only base game or FLD prefabs since it's almost impossible.

You've already got the answer, every DLC adds more resources to use, all categories.
The mapper doesn't NEED to use them, but why not!

I first thought these are real photos. It was only when I looked closer that I saw the difference.

lol, you can clearly see those are not real photos... still its a pretty damn good job.
I hate the new lighting system, the only thing it improved are truck lights. You could also get amazing real alike pictures with the previous one. We got tired of those.
With the new, in some trucks you dont even know if you have the lights on or off, cuz you cant see anything. At night, some parts of the environment/truck are completely dark.
At day, some (many in fact) roads and shiny materials are just too bright. Also at night, the visibility of the signs is terrible in some cases.
Fanboys love the new lighting system because its a new thing. Not because its actually better than the old one. SCS knows exactly how fanboys think lol.
We still have shadows from 1995 btw.
If we didnt had amazing mods like rusmap, for example, i probably wont be playing this game since a long long time ago.

Maybe, but the new lightning is better and more visible as their new dynamic shadows (Ssao) cause if you are driving you don't notice all shadows at all objects.. In my case it unnecessarily slowed down my performance so I deactivated it complete.
The new skBox looks also far better with more different clouds as before. In the old one I had very too often some certain clouds at my Screenshots.
The new Light at the trucks is good so far. We have even mirror effects at the light glasses
But one important thing SCS has to rethink and to rework is the situation in tunnels. That is very creepy and unrealistic..
At night a tunnel looks dark and you see clearly the lights from the tunnel itself in the tunnel. And you see the reflection of the roof light, especially the orange ones for heavy haulage which goes round and around. They are pretty reflecting at the tunnel walls. At night fine so far..
But now drive at daytime through the same tunnel. No tunnel lights on. But the tunnel is inside bright as there would be no tunnel and there are absolutely no light reflections from yellow round roof lights as well as no other reflections od any lights. And you have some light far ahead which moves with your truck forward even if the tunnel is very long and you can't see the other end..
That is very unrealistic. A tunnel is dark at night in same way as daytime, so it has to be completely dsrk in it and only the tunnel lights has to make it a little brighter and there must be reflections of my truck lights every time of the day not only at nighttime..
Also some traffic signs seems to have still no reflections. While the Autobahn and expressway signs, there the letters have too much and are so too bright..
So I am not a fanboy I have also some critism.. But in generell I like the new lights, but it would be more nicer if SCS is going to improve it more.
