@tantalus
i must admit it is able to achieve 60fps stabe with a gtx1070 on either 1.39 or 1.40, but only on vanilla with a single screen. rendering 5760x1080 pixels vanilla will give a performance drop. but other than that it is also the game that bottlenecks the hardware. bad optimization for instance, but we all know that here :lol: . i tested 1.40 when it just released without AA enabled and i must say it has a big impact on the fps. that's why i am sticking with 1.39 (and unusable mods ofc).
i don't know how scs tests the game them selfes but i am sure they don't test it on a rig with a high resolution.

@Lou511
there is nothing you can do about jagged shadows in this game. The most you can do is to set shadow resolution to 8192, something you already did.
But it wont matter how high you set that up, as i said many many times shadow casting in this game is terrible and you going to get jagged shadows
in many situations no matter what you do. It is just limitations of the game engine.
Windows 10 xxxx.xxx whatever is the last version... lol.

Do these settings still work with ets2/ats 1.40 with the new lighting system?

Alright thank you! I was quite hesitated to use it on 1.40 because I thought these settings may mess up the lighting system.

@therobloxians1119

Let's put it this way! They work in different phases of the graphics pipeline,
so no conflict there!

Its true that now lamps are missing from signals and banners... seriously this is the way SCS plans to implement the lightning system? making a completely unrealistic and ridiculous looking scenery? i just dont get it. And people love it...

In editor its a problem too, as the first i have enjoyed a new look, in time the bright light started to annoy me and even to make my eyes tired very fast than before. Is not 100% bad, but i could live without this update very easy.

After playing for a bit in 1.40 I am having mixed feelings too. The problem with the new lighting is when the weather is sunny it is overly bright and the colors look washed out. In cloudy weather or early in the morning for example it looks nice. The problem is that SCS is trying to implement new features on a very old and not so capable game engine so they look half baked. The thing that they haven't implemented a proper AA solution yet and haven't deal with the popping of scenery in the distance is unacceptable in 2021. But I like the style of the game and there is no other like it, that's why I stay and for the fact that we have this AA solution here..
