I don't know why I have some flickering texture far in the distance.

@Ticreut29

Well, as I said, your latest game log would be nice to have too. From what I see
in NPI you should actually change the Texture filtering - LOD Bias(DX) to -1.5000.
Then I also want to know what kind of frame syncing you use and at which refresh
rate you run your monitor!

the lastest game.log
I use the v-sync 4 in ETS2 because my computer refresh rate is at 144hz.

@Ticreut29

Your settings are looking damn good, but the next question is this!
Do you get a constant FPS of 36 when driving? Further, with the power
machine you now have, you should run with r_vsync "3" getting a frame
limit of 48 and also t_averaging_window_length set to "96" instead!
BUT, the secret here is to get a CONSTANT FPS, so if you don't get that
and you have G-Sync or Freesync enabled, disable them. Next answer
I will expand on why you will never get rid of ALL flickering in the
distance, but is for next post after you have made the changes and
answered my questions!

We all got them, is the "new" feature introduced by DX11 about how much detail can be inserted in a map. Soon we will make maps with a road and 1 tree.
And i was not wrong when i have said the FPS are down with latest updates. I just drove last night in an area i have in one of my older videos. To say the video (a file uploaded on Youtube, you know?) had better graphics, AA and FPS than the real thing.
Not to say i had to drop Superlights and Traffic MED because i couldnt make the game getting more than 40 FPS.
I dont have a NASA PC but still....

@Arayas

Well, I haven't run the game other than the two videos I posted,
so I can't tell yet! But that kind of warnings can cause stutter, so .....!

I don't use v_sync 3 because my lowest fps is 52 so I prefer running at 36 fps because I'm sure my fps will be constant and I play ets 2 at 36 fps for a long time ago.

I got any stutter from now, even with naturalux but I prefer realistic graphics because the game is less bright, when naturalux is too bright.

@Ticreut29

That's totally up to you, but I think the new RTX3070 card will let you run a constant FPS of 48,
at least 99% of the time. But what I asked was, do you get a constant FPS = 36, i.e. the max
FPS will be 36, occasionally it might be lower?

EDIT: There are mainly 2 problematic flickering situations that will NOT be solved by proper AA.
  • First the window problem. Windows at buildings will flicker at a certain range of distances, due to bad reflection handling, This might get better wit the new lighting system in 1.40.
  • Second, the problem with 2 or more textures placed at the same level, which will fool the game when rendering them and they will be alternately rendered, hence flickering!
If the flickering you experience isn't of these 2 categories, please make a video to show what you mean!

I should do more test at 48 FPS, ALso the only moment I Get to 52 FPS it's when it's raining and the street lamps are turned on.
For flickering objects, this is happening at the distance and the texture is flickering on some buildings.
