Yes, as I ALWAYS render my ME BGs according to the map projection specifications by SCS!

And if you plan to connect by ferry, there's even more sane to just map UAE by itself AT THE PROPER location,
and then rename it to europe whenever there's a need to check together with the rest of Europe that it works
or when you are building the final map mod for release!

And if you are only interested in UAE area I can make a very high quality ME BG as
the bigger area to cover the worse will the quality be!

That seems like a plan, but if I were to say, -edit europe, then measure out with a ruler the distance from the furthest point on the developed map (probably Turkey) and then create a new sector waaaaay downm, would I then be able to somehow get a background map if I took that newly created map sector and made a new .mbd for only developing that sector or would I just have to develop without a background map?

Say cheers to him! Anyway, so the "map projection specifications by SCS" mean that the background map could reflect the UAE's true position while also fitting into Europe exactly as the normal europe_bgn.dds would?

And, yes, I will only be developing the UAE for now, so if it is possible to develop a high quality background map for that while still keeping it within Europe 1:19 specifications, thayt would be great!

If I were you, I wouldn't think that much about the connection. Go with a ferry connection to start with,
then if you decide it would be good with a road connection too, we will handle that in a proper way at
that time. I would during the creation of the map use e.g. -edit uae and only rename the map files to
europe when I want to check what I have done in the game, so that I also would see the rest of Europe.

So, for now, should I just start an empty uae.mbd with the beautiful BG you gave before and then we’ll figure out how to integrate the map sector later on or do I need to create a map sector in europe.mbd in its proper place and then export it into my uae.mbd?

I have that already as a separate ME BG mod to just drop into the mod folder you will use when creating this UAE map.
Let me do a fast check which map name I used in the mod when I delivered it to the Road to Asia team! Be right back!
