[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@BenganJ - To me the blog pic's just look too similar.
In your first pic with the red rings drawn. Looking at the big ring in all pictures with AO i just find it odd that the green inside of the building is just as light as the outside green. The sun is coming from the behind the distant building, judging by the cast shadows, so why isn't that building much darker inside?
To me i think the 1.37 pics shown look the best, colour wise.
But i haven't tried in game ssao and don't use NPI AO because they are a big fps hit for me for no real improvement. I don't use HDR because of fps hit so i can live without SSAO but not MSAA.
But i think NPI AO used something on the 3d models that SCS removed to implement their ssao.
They said on their blog "All the 3D models in our games had to be revisited by the art department, and any instances, where any fake shadows and darkening were already applied to a model by an artist, were changed."
Any way... why bother trying to use NPI AO? Just use SSAO? or try all available AO bits if you think NPI AO is better?
Just questions.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Personally I dont want to you NPI AO, i just want to use NPI AA settings withe SCS SSAO, unfortunately it isnt working right now.

@Sansemiano
Yes, you can also set the first entry in NPI called Ambient Occlusion compatibility to the default
which is 0x00000000 (Dragon Age 2).
@JHTrucker
Your conclusion is like mine, skip NPI AO settings and use SCS's SSAO at High if possible. You see the
effect only in the inner roof of the near building, the open one.
@killingjoke
Do as Sansemiano and then activate the in-game SSAO to High and see if that has effect! This is about
the display of shadows, so look where you have such!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
As soon as I go to 100% scaling and the NPI settings kick in the SSAO is completely gone.
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@killingjoke
Probably NOT completely, but the effect is smaller. So, to see the effect you
have to be at certain places, where you have a lot of shadows.
Edit: This is the testing place i used, try going there and test you too.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
I dont see any SSAO at all. Same as if SSAO is turned off in the game.
The SCS SSAO stops working as soon as the anti aliasing compatibility is enabled in the NPI. I wonder why this overrides the SCS SSAO, the NPI AO is disabled. Maybe this overrides the SCS SSAO.

As I said in my test post up there, I don't know why the effect is smaller than without NPI.
We use so many parameters in NPI that it will take some time to investigate which setting
is causing it. As I think I showed there with my comparisons, I have an effect with NPI in
there for AA, but it's smaller than without it!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
SCS-SSAO on, NPI off
NPI AO on
SCS SSAO off, NPI off
Look at the gas tank, I can only see a difference when SCS SSAO enabled and NPI disabled

That is not a good place to see the effect! Goto the same place as I was, St. Geoge and Plaster & Son there.
You open a console and type goto st_george and you will be taken there. Get down on a street and head over
to that company!
Edit: Also, make sure you have a sunny day, so that you get defined shadows!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Well, actually is doesnt matter if there is any NPI AO effect going on as long as it does not look as good as the SCS SSAO.
