@killingjoke

First question. Are you using the NPI AO at the same time? If so try disable NPI AO before starting the game
and enable SSAO there!

@killingjoke

Okay, does the NPI AO work as usual with in-game SSAO disabled?

Yes, but barely visible. The SCS AO is much better.

@killingjoke

Next question! How do you disable NPI AO when you try to use SCS SSAO?

I set the Ambient Occlusion usage to disabled in the NPI. I also tried leaving it enabled and choose 400% scaling. At this scaling the SCS AO works as the NPI settings wont apply anymore. As soon as I switch back to 100% scaling and the NPI settings kick in the SCS AO doesn't work anymore.

@killingjoke

Thank you very much for cooperating with testing and answering questions.
You have just confirmed what I have found out too, but I have a systematic
testing to do, to really being able to document this properly! For now, as I
see it, you have to choose between NPI AA + AO and SCS Scaling SMAA and
SSAO. I will report back here when I have tested properly!

For those of you, who are really interested in complex technical solutions to graphical display of real environments,
SCS has now published a very good blog post, about how they have implemented their version of SSAO, Screen Space
Ambient Occlusion. It also includes a lot of comparison images in different environments. Enjoy! Here is the blog post.

I'm guessing these tweaks won't work with the oculus VR beta of the game? I don't know what multi-monitor config to use, I use a headset, not monitors. I would love to find a way to reduce the aliasing and screen-door effect on objects in the distance and I was hoping some of these NPI tweaks could help with that.
