@vanko199

You forgot to add a space between the old and the new argument.

Code: Select all

eurotrucks2.exe -nointro -mm_max_resource_size 100 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000-mm_pool_size 4000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------^-----------------
So, back to the testing bed and try!
I read this on SCS forum Bengan. What doe you think about these settings?

@olaf28

What do you want me to say. I have explained these parameters a hundred times now.
This is what I have documented in another topic here, this one: viewtopic.php?p=13049#p13049

--------------------------------
My Steam Launch Options:
--------------------------------

-64bit
-nointro
-unlimitedlog
-mm_pool_size 4000 //Size of the general pool of resources memory area. Max. 1/2 of total memory.
-mm_max_resource_size 32 //Resource loading buffer size. Default = 22MB, max. 100MB.
-mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 //Maximum temporary memory buffer area. Default = 112MB, max. 1000MB.

And this is what I myself use:

Code: Select all

 -64bit -nointro  -unlimitedlog  -mm_pool_size 8000 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000
If you have more memory, raise the value of the pool size and if you are running mods which have bigger resources
than 32MB raise the resource size to a proper value, e.g. NaturaLux demands resource size of 90MB as the skyboxes
in there is about 87.5MB!

@nunoazev

You MUST NOT change anything, but if you use it's skyboxes the creator and I recommend
that you do that. The loading of them will be faster!

Sorry, my question was not clear.
I have 16GB Ram. The advice there is to use the "-mm_pool_size 7168" setting. This is just under half of memory. I still understand that. Only I have used up to "-mm_pool_size 4000" so far. So I'm going to see if increasing this setting improves my preformance problem.

I just didn't know the reason for the setting "-mm_max_resource_size". But I now understand this too. Thank you.

P.s. I didn't join the discussion about using NPI until much later. So I have not read that these settings have been discussed in detail. I apologize

@benganJ

What do you think about the main mod from Naturalux (7,15 GB) Isn't to much even to RTX2070 playing 4K?
I just use Naturalux Open Beta and i think is very good.

@nunoazev

To be VERY honest here. I don't use NaturaLux, have never used it, thinks it takes too
much resources for almost nothing gained. That's why you see that my resource size
is only slightly bigger than SCS default, 32MB instead of 22MB, enough to be able to
load most other resources in mods, except NaturaLux. That value also gives me 31
loading buffers for the game to use, instead of NaturaLux which limits the number
of buffers to 9! They can only load 9 resources at the same time where I can load
31 resources at the same time. Go figure! Getting a proper AA is much more needed
than some fancy skyboxes! My two cents!

AA = AntiAliasing the scheme to get better graphics. SCS only provides a
VERY lame scheme called SMAA, but here in the following topic we have
documented a MUCH more effective scheme, a combination of MSAA and
SGSSAA methods. Link to that topic: viewtopic.php?p=13049#p13049
