Re: World Background Maps

Just pondered and thought a little you can't take the Europe map and the Asia map quite ordinary and then take it down to scale 1:19 will not everything be 1:19 then where everyone who makes maps can go after or will it also be completely wrong? Than doing part 1:19 like Europe and another part 1:25 that SCS seems to have done with England once in a while or what scale it was on it ...?

@Gutte72

Well my friend, take a look at what SCS themselves has done for a background in the game.
They ONLY include the area they have done themselves, not much more, and the same goes
for what they offer as a background in the Map Editor to be used by all mappers. Meaning,
that every mapper has to make his own BG, if he maps in an area outside SCS's region. I found
a way to make a BG MUCH bigger than that covering the area all the way to Japan and Indonesia
in the east and down south including Madagascar. I've also supported quite a few mappers with
BG's in the Map Editor, including the Project Japan, the addon version which will be located
at it's proper location. So, look forward to many new maps in correct scale and located at
their proper place.

FYI, SCS's release of the UK, included in UK Truck Simulator, was done in a 1:15 scale, and
later incorporated without re-scaling into ETS2. So, it has to be treated in a special way in
the game. All othere releases from SCS are in 1:19 for Europe and 1:20 for USA!

How did you "satellite" a fantasy map?

You got that from Lord of the Rings map? If so, how far is Mordor? :D

Well, I like doing things like this, so no problem with that!
Thank you for the kind words! The Grand Utopia is such a
nice and good looking map, so I thought it could use a nice
background too! :D

@Arayas

The secret is that on the SCS forum someone noticed that the Grand Utopia map
was made with a flipped, both horizontally and vertically, map of the Greek island
near the Turkish mainland called Lesbos! Enough to trigger me! ;)
