World Background Maps
Re: World Background Maps
@MG Mike
Yes, the RC between YKSRSK and TGS contains a file that alone makes this happen.
I'll try later today to explain with pictures and all what I've discovered! THANK YOU
again, mate. I've learned something new again! :D

@MG Mike & @Arayas & @All interested in these sophisticated dark dungeons called Promods
I have to admit, for the moment, that I can't explain this fully, but here we go!
MG Mike reported here

with pictures about a problem I've seen a couple of times. NOTE, that this is not
the common problem of people getting the whole map shifted or scaled, as that is
depending on the wrong map_data.sii file taking precedence. The problem at hand
here is that ONLY the area west and north of Dover has been rescaled. The rest
of the map is properly located and scaled. It looked like this.
The wrong load order was like this. From the beginning of ETS2, SCS took what they had already done in UKTS (UK Truck
Simulator), which was made in a scale of 1:15, and incorporated into ETS2 as it was.
Then they invented a trick, meaning that when the data was presented to the user
in the in-game Map View, that area I specified above got scaled down to 1:19, just
the same as the rest of the map. This was done within the game engine itself and it
depended on whether the map creator had ticked an option in the settings for the map
in Map Editor.
At some point, probably when Promods started to renew areas of the UK, they decided,
for whatever reason, to untick that setting, which in turn meant that the UK area
wouldn't be scaled in Map View. It also meant that they had to make their own BG map.
They might already then have plans for Iceland and it also had to be included into the
BG map, which SCS didn't have in their BG.
Now to the above problem, that MG Mike reported. After some deep trial and error scheme
by MG Mike, he could tell me that the problem appeared, when the YKSRSK to The Great Steppe
RC mod was located above all other map mods in Mod Manager. So I started to do some own
investigations by loading first the Promods map into the Editor, in order to see their
settings for the map. And, as I suspected, it looked like this. Then I remembered that for other reasons, there had been reports on that RC by FunTrucker_18,
regarding the fact that he had used some resources from Promods, prefabs. Probably he had
Promods loaded into the Editor at the same time, that he was creating his RC. That's probably
how his RC mod got infected by Promods and then he also inherited the map settings from it.
The problematic item is a tiny, tiny file named europe.mbd, and YES Arayas, it is IMPORTANT
when someone make changes to the map settings in Editor. In all other cases it's OK with the
standard SCS version of that file. So, then I made a small mod of ONLY that tiny file, and
by moving that around among the map mods in Mod Manager I could create the error. The result
of all this work, by several people we now know the culprit when this error occurs again. So
THANK YOU once more MG Mike and take a look above, what you caused to happen, just by reporting
an error! :D To sum it all up, move the RC so that it's located right above the YKSRSK mods
and also see to that you have at least one more map addon above it! Then you will have this.
You get it with this load order. Sorry for all the words, but this is the kind of stuff I like to deal with! :D

Re: World Background Maps
I think I had similar issues in the past before your BGMap was there while using the sat BG from Elmar..
It was even before these RC was released.. As I had iti could fix it by put the navimap with Google maps on higher position at the background and then it was fine too.. I think there was the same file responsible.., but in other mods..
Anyway.. Now by using your BG now I know what mod cuased it and for me it is fine now by changing the load order..
So for me as a player all is fine..
And for you as mappers there are some new facts maybe unknown to you untill now. And probably it helps you for future projects..
So it is damn cool that we have this great community where people even interests for the littlest details..
At other places it would probably only said "your map is not compatible."

Re: World Background Maps
Noone named, but still ......!
Re: World Background Maps
Thank you, I had similar problem.
Re: World Background Maps
You're welcome! :D
Re: World Background Maps
Why you dont include the ferry fix directly in your SAT for Promods? It's a 3k file used by me or Extremor.
Re: World Background Maps
The reason probably was that it isn't needed if NOT using Promods ME, just Promods!
Re: World Background Maps
It's a null file until is activated. You can place it in any mod possible. It reacts just in ME presence
