[REL] Better Flares for ETS2 and ATS (UPD 9/8)

ETS2 VERSION

Better Flares 3.3 is an adapted version of Better Flares 3.2, with converted textures to latest. Compatible with ETS2 1.36/1.37.

All credits to Avelium for the mod, and to SCS forum members for reporting crashes. Original topic here.

Jazzycat addons are old, but work ok even with the latest Jazzycat packs. Of course not all of the new models have the new flares, but there are enough to create diversity and immersion.

Jazzycat addons are of course not required and should not be loaded when you don't have Jazzys packs.

i state it is not mine, I just made adjustments. Avelium in scs forum topic gave permission to anyone to try and update the mod, it dates more than 2 years back.

I also posted on the authors topic. ;)

I have seen your posting at SCS forum topic and I know about Aveliums problems
to continue with his mod. I too loved it very much, but still, I had to ask, because
we can't post pirated or illegal mods here! I mean NO harm, mate.

Of course, as the mod is old, all the time this happens on the log

Is there a way to mass convert pmg's to the new version? My attempt with converterPIX and conversion tools resulted in the textures missing :lol:

@paokkerkir

For map PMGs Arayas load the map into the editor and browse through the
resources there using the -conversion_path startup option to gather the
converted PMGs into a specified path. For this type of mod I'm not sure
how to do. You could try to just load all those mods in that pack in it's
own profile, then define that -conversion_path PATH and just run that
profile for a while and then look in that path for the converted PMGs.

I tried again according to this:
Here we go step by step but first let me assume following:
1. ConverterPIX is extracted in d:\converter_pix
2. Conversion Tools is extracted in d:\conversion_tools
3. a mod is extracted in d:\mods\somemod

what you need to do:
1. launch cmd,
2. run this command: d:\converter_pix\converter_pix.exe d:\mods\somemod,
3. if everything went fine (you will see lots of warnings - don't worry about them) you should end up with a folder d:\mods\somemod_exp - there are your intermediate format files,
4. move the content of d:\mods\somemod_exp to d:\conversion_tools\base, (first make sure that the "base" folder is empty - just remove all the files/folders inside it)
5. run this command: d:\conversion_tools\convert.cmd
6. when it's done converting your mod is in d:\conversion_tools\rsrc\base\@cache
7. copy the content of d:\conversion_tools\rsrc\base\@cache to d:\mods\somemod and overwrite all existing files
8. done
And it WORKS. No conversions, zero nil nada!

And would you look at these beautiful yellow, white and blue headlights without slowing the game down converting.

Jazzycat lights packs are old but they still work for these cars, those that caused issues were removed. It's not every car in the traffic pack, but I think it's enough to give diversity.

I asked for permission to upload this version from the author, because it's a big step from just fixing, it's a reconversion of all the pmd/pmg's. When I have an answer I will upload it.
