@bogdac

Sure I could do that, didn't thought of those myself, but they both have a REAL
area behind them. I'll actually look into it. But tell me, it was a long time since
I ran the Hungary map now and I seem to remember some sort of background
there from the beginning, how does it look today?

@clear F1

Yes, I had you in mind and also the fact that the project has been reborn again.
I really hope they will now grow much faster from now on and I might have to
re-design my BG later, because I had so little to go on. You are welcome my friend.

As you can see Hungary probably doesn't a new BG map. but Heilbronn maybe does. But I really just asked out of curiosity I just wondered if a BG map could be made for any map. Darn just noticed the screenshots came out in the wrong order too :D :D :D

@bogdac

Hahahaha, I just dived into the Heilbronn map too, and what I saw was
disaster. Klauzzy didn't have any BG in 1.0.7, but have included it in the
1.0.8 release, BUT in the wrong way. He has used PNG-format instead of
DDS and only one of 5 pics have a real image of the area in question. The
other 4 is BLACK, so it won't work to zoom there. That map certainly needs
a proper BG map! :D :D :D

@DeamonsAsylum

Same as initial release, 1.0, which you can see in the first post of this topic.
It's the same BG as for plain PM, but needs the ferry fix you can read about
in the NOTE 1.

@Folks

I have discovered some important things. Earlier I have thought that DDS images with BC3/DXT5 compression
had to have each side pixels a number that is 2 raised to some integer, like e,g, 4096x4096, where 4096
equals 2 raised to 12. But that is ONLY if it also contains mipmaps. I also thought that the in-game map
views BG images had to be square, but that is not true either. The only constraint to be aware of is that
the side pixels are dividable by 4 and gives an integer as a result. A third misunderstanding I've had is,
that as the maximum loading buffer size in the game is 100MB, used for loading all sorts of resources into
the game, I assumed the max image size was 100MB. That's NOT true!

This I learned after a test to raise the resolution of the images and also covering a bigger area, so now
I've managed to create the SAT BG you can see in the following video. Each of the included 5 images is of
a size that exceeds 100 MB, actually around 115MB! In this SAT BG I have also made the country border lines
a bit thinner, might be too thin now. So, now I want you to watch the video and comment on it. NOTE, that
there is NO panning or zooming delay, in spite of the bigger images.
