We have a few options we were discussing today where to take RSM. From our technician department, it may be near impossible to remove the promods dependency without rebuilding the content in Road to Africa or Road to Asia. Ideally, the idea came about to dissolve RSM and move the content from Saudi Arabia into RTA and Egypt into Road to Africa. 2 issues persist:
- RTA is usually on the bottom of the load order, so promods sectors would "win" the invasion
- We have used quite a bit of content from Promods to instantly make it non dependent
I take full blame for its dependency. When I founded the project as a solo mapper in May 2020, I thought being a promods dependency was a safe move as promods gave the idea to new mappers that they encourage expansion projects from their areas. Every 6 months when they pull this BS I am reminded that promods is not a friendly organization at all. The only connection we have remaining to them at TerraMaps is RSM, our 2nd most popular map mod.
I do agree with one of the comments here, 1.44 will most likely be the last time I personally download promods and just for checking how much damage it will have on RSM, but as far as using promods, i think i'm quite done with it. In reality, Iceland and Israel are the only places I'll miss anyway from promods. Maybe we can add PMME areas into RTA one day, who knows :)
I appreciate the supportive comments and the suggestions from our friends and fans here at RoEx, as always, we will promptly deliver any decisions we as a team agree on once promods releases their update. Regardless of the direction this goes, we will still look into options to break dependency.

few notes:
-nobody stops you to move RSM above Promods (or RTA for that matter).
-nobody stops you to release a Promods add-on if you respect their rules as many others add-ons.

I agree, as a player i would like to see a massive Promods developement in UK, Scandinavia, Going East area and so on, not this developements who is generating continuos reason to argue, but that's their decision only.

I was thinking more in the line of what Project Balkan, Poland Rebuilding but also RoEx & Rusmap do. As far as I know, it then doesn't matter how many sectors "invade", the higher placed map overwrites it anyway. If I understand it correctly, it's not the hardest thing to do. But I stand corrected if I'm wrong.
And yes, PM has a habit of encroaching on areas where others also are developing their work. But that is a discussion which has been discussed before, since the dawn of time.

@Samartok (NL) The problem with Project Balkan, Poland Rebuilding, etc, is that they are dependent of releases of ProMods: when ETS2 is updated, first ProMods must be updated and released, and only then Project Balkans, Poland Rebuilding, etc can be updated because they need the ProMods sectors. And thus they have to wait until ProMods is updated and released.
This will cost a lot of time... You can see this happening with Poland Rebuilding: we always have to wait for a very long time after an ETS2 update before Poland Rebuilding is updated and released:

But yeah, one problem remains: sometimes people want to develop in the same area. And nobody can forbid somebody to develop in a particular area. So, in the end overlapping sectors will be a big issue for a very long time.

Promods claims that they are a modding community and that every modder can decide for himself what he makes and where he works. So I'm reading this that they have no control and don't want to control your modders.

But the moment we do this, they come as a bunch of morale knights and you are deeply offended. Then it is not an attack against a mod, but an attack against Promods.

Why can they not just give up and let others who make maps can add their maps to promods while they make the
cities they have better and maybe bigger as "SCS" does or did or why not expand cities in other countries such as.

Hmmm i dont really agree with you. I am not a big fan of Promods, but taking legal actions against a developer because he wants to make 2 citys in your area seems a bit too harsh to me.
I have no idea of mapping but a friend told me that making a connection so RSM users can have RSM citys is not a big problem and can be done fast. So wheres the Problem then?
