@alonzam99 - I already said 'yes' to that question in the other thread 18/12/2020 viewtopic.php?p=32809#p32809
and then gave more details to help you viewtopic.php?p=32824#p32824

No more updates because it's as good as it is, it will never be like walking in a first person shooter until SCS do it.

Re: Multiple Universal External Cameras with look function for 1.38/1.39/1.40 - Updated 01/04/2021

Post by JHTrucker » June 19th, 2021, 9:17 pm

First post update:
New menu mod V3.

The supplied presets (eye_tracking_presets folder) are now in the new "in game saving format". You can still use your saved presets if you've previously made any, but it'll be best to delete the old v2 "spares" and my v2 supplied presets named with an (x), for example, 'Roof (11)' etc.

Important - If you're updating from v2 to v3 then you should note these!
You need to re-apply all line edits again in your controls.sii file as all of them have changed!

You now don't setup camera 1 in the mod menu, instead you need to do this:
Edit your config_local.cfg file found in your profile folder where your controls.sii file is also located.
(American/Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\Your Profile\config_local.cfg)
Now pick one of the following line edits to suit how you want to use camera 1:
uset g_eye_preset_4 "g:tobii_4c" <-- Cam 1 with TrackIR or Analogue Controller with auto centre.
or
uset g_eye_preset_4 "g:default" <-- Cam 1 with default game standard Mouse or Analogue Controller.

What's new?
You can now pick from 3 external cameras in the menu mod, Cam 5, Cam 6 & Cam 7. Just pick which camera preset to assign to them as required.

You can now easily disable this mod and all lines edits so the game camera functions are all set back to game default settings when playing multiplayer, for example, which currently doesn't allow mods. Note: 1.41 is currently untested.

At the top of the menu is a new tick box:
"Enable MUEC code (Tick) - Disable (Untick) then remove this mod."

Enable (Tick) = MUEC works exactly as it has always done with all the new cameras/functions.

Disable (Untick) = The menu will 'grey out' preventing changes. Now remove the menu mod from your profile so now you'll just have default game camera functions and therefore will be able to use multiplayer mode etc.
Note: If you remove the mod without 'unticking' first, then you'll have incorrect default camera 5, 6 & 7 functions.
To fix, add the mod again and untick or
Press '5', '6' or '7' and then 'shift + 9'. You'll see the original Tobii Eye menu, untick 'Enable extended view', the menu will 'grey out' and you'll have game standard cameras again.

Simplified preset saving!
You can now move the sliders to where you want and then save the preset in game instead of previously having to write the numbers down and editing files externally.
Where you see 'Custom' (after positioning your camera) on the menu top preset box, click '+' then type your preset name in the box and press 'enter'.
If you type the same name as an existing preset you can overwrite it if required.
You can delete presets. On the top preset box, click 'x' and the currently displayed preset name will be deleted.
Note: You can't delete or change the mod standard presets, 'Cam 1-M & K (Don't Use)', 'Cam 1-TIR & AC (Don't Use)', 'Cam 1-(Don't Use)' & 'Cam 5/6/7 Template'.
All presets created are still stored in the games 'eye_tracking_presets' folder.

Accessing the menu has slightly changed to 'shift + 9' (instead of just '9') or original 'shift + numlock'.
The change here is because of now being able to save your presets, entering 9 in a preset name, 'Hood - W900' for example, caused the menu to close. Accessing menu with 'Shift + 9' prevents that issue.

If you assign a button to 'Enable Head Tracking' at the bottom of the keys menu then you can toggle between TrackIR & Analogue controller with auto centre on or off for Cam 1. When off Cam 1 has game standard mouse or game controller only.

Thank you for the interesting mod, in the 1.41 official and MUEC v3, camera 1,5,6,7 all work as intended, camera 2 ,3 ,4 ,8 will work only if I hold the 2,3,4,8 key, once I release the key the camera will become camera 1.
is this intended or some errors on my part?

@Dieling - Thanks for testing... that's not intended, all cameras should just select as per normal game.
I don't have 1.41 yet and so i can't check this out. I'm looking to update next week if both games are then 1.41.

I've just deleted my controls.sii file in my MUEC test profile and let the game generate a new one, then applied my edits from here and all works correctly.

EDIT
As a test put line 173 back to default:
EDIT 2:
*** Line edits removed from here as they are now incorporated into the first post.***

One of the slight changes between v2 and v3 was to prevent the menu opening when it shouldn't.
Please check that you can't open the menu when cam1,2,3,4&8 are active.

I've tested that menu won't open during 1,2,4,8 are active.
change 173 line to default like you said, will make 1~8 work as intended except camera 3.
camera 3 does not work, press the key and noting happen, everything else are perfect, 2,4,8 can stay, also can not go to menu when 2,4,8 are active

@BenganJ - I'll still have to wait... my crap mobile data internet...

@Dieling - Whilst I can't recreate your original problem I can see why it could happen. What fps does your game run at? I'm locked at 30 fps and may slow down scanning controls.sii whereas higher fps may speed up that scanning time and cause a clash when one line is waiting for a button to be released and another is wait for you to press it.

I've got a few more line edits to check over and test to hopefully remove that problem from happening altogether. So keep an eye on here.

I don't have any line edits for cam 3... in the keys menu does it have 3 assigned to it?
If it doesn't add it and then re-apply line 134 as that will be lost when you assign the 3.
Cams 5,6&7 should state COMPLEX and that's correct.

EDIT:
Please test these line edits before I update first post, thanks.

I tested in a clean profile, and everything seems to work now, so the camera 3 issue might be on my main profile's end.

edit
the camera 3 not working is a known issue: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=181&t=220925
and I have fixed it on my main profile by just do some teleporting...

so in conclusion, lin173 needs to be default, to make camera 2348 work. By the way, I use NPI to lock my game at 61 fps

@Dieling - Thanks for testing, I have no issues with the changes I made either, so i'll update the first post with those 4 line edits.

The cam3 issues seems strange. It's not due to my mod as it only contains a modified/relocated cam5 and from that new location all the movement etc is provided by my line edits.
So SCS Tom didn't fix it after all -->by Tom » 26 Jul 2018 07:12

This seems the most likely reason:
"SCS Forum by Tigerclaw » 02 Dec 2016 22:06
I notice this mostly when I use it for reversing upto one of my garage doors. While you are further away from the door, all is fine. When you get close, it switches to inside cab view, if I pull back out, it switches back to top down view. I can go back and forth, and it switches views as I move in and out."

So cam3 isn't just a static camera, it can switch to cam1 when it needs to... so SCS coding error.
You don't need it anyway... use my drone preset.

EDIT:
I've added the cam3 issue to my Q&A and linked your post with the fix, thanks.

Re: Multiple Universal External Cameras with look function for 1.38/1.39/1.40 - Updated 16/07/2021

First post updated.

New Menu Mod v4.
Amended lines: 131 / 132 / 133 / 134 / 177 / 178 / 179 / 343.
New lines: 135 / 180.
If you're updating from v2 or v1 then you need to re-apply all line edits.

There's also a new required edit for your config_local.cfg:
(American/Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\Your Profile\config_local.cfg)

uset g_eye_preset_5 "g:tobii_head_only" <-- Cam 5.

If you're new to MUEC then just follow the first post instructions for the correct setup.

What's new?
Multiple Universal External Cameras are now accessed via CAM 6, 7 & 8.
CAM 5 is now a permanent 'Look Behind' camera.
Existing game standard cameras 6, 7 & 8 can now also be accessed via 'Shift + 6', 'Shift + 7' & 'Shift + 8'.

Fixed the old issue where you couldn't access the Menu Mod if all of the MUEC cameras didn't have a preset selected or eye_tracking_presets folder was deleted.
The Menu Mod can now always be opened after selecting CAM 5. Then add presets to 6, 7 & 8 as required.

Changes to default presets in eye_tracking_presets folder:
Added 'Drone - Ultra High' preset 0000000060f2d523.sii
Amended 'Drone' preset 0000000060c613f7.sii
You can now pitch the camera up (using TIR / Analogue thumb stick etc) to help look ahead if required.
