Hmm, I guess try running the game without VR first, and see if you can use DSR, if you haven't tried that already. Make sure your desktop is set to the desired DSR resolution before starting the game, so that the game and desktop resolutions match; I believe that's a requirement for NPI AA to work. Set the resolution in-game to the correct size, and you can also try switching between fullscreen and windowed mode to see if it makes any difference.

If that still doesn't work, there's one more thing I can think of that you can try with the multimon config, but I doubt it would really help.

Hello,

I need help to fix a problem with the multimon_config.sii file

My setup is an NVidia GTX 1070 with 2 screens 2560x1440px, with NVidia Surround I have a resolution of 5120x1440px.

I think that all my settings are correct, but I get stuck in the multimon_config.sii file, I don't know what values I should enter.

Currently I have a big perspective problem on my right screen, especially when I tilt my head up or down: https://i.imgur.com/qAgdk3Z.jpg 🙈

Could you help me to solve this problem so that I can play again, the antialiasing problems seem to be solved.

thank you

Thank you for the suggestions, I gave up on using vorpX, and got it working with Virtual Desktop instead.

I setup AA according to the instructions on page one of this thread, and then opened Virtual Desktop.
In the begining there was a lot of stuttering and crashes, but after changing some settings, the framerate is now high and stable. I think the main changes were these ones in the ETS2 config.cfg:
uset r_multimon_mode "0"
uset r_fullscreen "0"
I also set the game background to "waves".

I made a lot of other changes, mainly to improve the framerate, here's the full config.cfg

Also applied the method in viewtopic.php?p=25158#p25158 to reduce 'leapfrog' stuttering.

The settings used in Virtual Desktop are shown in the below screenshot.

This method doesn't include headtracking, so in VR it looks just like you have a really big screen in front of you.
But it should be possible to add headtracking with this method:

But that's a job for another day!

@Taco - Try one of my dual monitor multimon files: viewtopic.php?p=17658#p17658

@a1337cookie - laptops don't allow DSR in the driver to work.

@sikjar2 - vorpX is changing the games rendered output and as we are forcing MSAA into it at the same time then I guess that's what's causing the quarter zoomed screen.
Test with:
'16xS' instead of 4x (It's still just 4xAA but added SS might do something?)
'4x Sparse Grid Supersampling'

You said "I am using a custom profile for non-VR ETS2". Is that a text file that you can show here in case there's a setting to tweak!?

Ah, thanks for informing me, I did not know that. I just assumed it was the same as desktop.

@Taco - If you're interested in a mathematically correct FOV, I have a guide on how to configure the multimon file here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2125

@JHTrucker I tried '16xS', but the result is the same.
The custom profile is downloaded via vorpX, it can be exported, but when opening it in Notepad, it looks like it has been encrypted, it's not a text file. Looks like I can ask for a key from the vorpX devs, I might try that.
But in any case, vorpX currently doesn't provide real 3D VR support for ETS2, it only shows the 2D image in VR and emulates head tracking.
So using Virtual Desktop is probably just as good.

@sikjar2 - I thought perhaps vorpX was getting depth info from the rendered image and making 2 images offset from each other to make it VR 3D... but as you said it just shows as 2D in VR which seems odd then that it doesn't apply the AA properly.
So the profile isn't a file created by you ticking boxes, it's created by vorpX. Which sounds like a reshade type dll hook or something along those lines...

I've added your Virtual Desktop post to the VR test page for now.

Hey everyone,
Im hoping one of you can help me in that matter since nowhere else i get proper help or even a response.
The setup im using is struggling a lot to get good fps, especially in cities or whenever there are a few more cars on the highway in ETS2 and its driving me crazy since im looking for the source of that issue for weeks now, its almost unplayable and unenjoyable.
When theres not much happening i get around 50 fps but as soon as i reach a little more busy areas, my fps drops down to almost 15.

Here are my rig details:
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • MSI RTX 2080 X TRIO
  • Gigabyte AORUS X570 Pro
  • Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB NVMe
  • 2x Dell U2718Q
  • 1x Acer KG271UA
  • Windows 11
I used a fresh installation of ETS2, reset all configs to default (which are on the same drive as the game itself) and then started following the exact steps provided here (until Q&A section).
Changed the game config, used the tripple screen-Mutimon file, changed NPI settings and tested the game on my native resolution (with Nvidia Surround enabled) on 7680x1440.
My FPS took a bit hit with under 29 so i went into the ingame settings and disabled vsync for now which led to roundabout 45 fps.
Started driving a bit and my fps went down in cities to about 15.

So I started googling for similar setups (which noone seems to have or only in mutimon 2 mode which i cant use due to the 11° Angle of my 2 outer monitors) tested different ingame settings, different NPI settings, different mutimon files, applied starting parameters in steam, OC´ed my GPU, i even reinstalled Windows, but none of that seems to have given me a stable setup.
I´ve seen posts and videos with people running GTX970s in kinda the same configuration, having stable 60 fps.

So Im starting to wonder if im seriously just asking too much of my GPU or if im starting to get a tunnel view and being stupid, not seeing the issue.
Ihave 1 confession to make though, I´m testing the whole time with Promods and some mods out of the D.B. Creation set, because i dont want to miss them.
I know Promods can have some impacton fps but feel like the issue is somewhere else, its just too drastic.

Im happy to post anything you need for helping me out, im loosing my mind on this :wacko2: :dash3: and appreciate any kind of help.
Big thanks in advance, youre my last hope

Best regards

I would let JHTrucker to answer you about monitors and multimonitors, but...
Keep in mind, this is a driving game who has traffic issues. I know...funny.
The game was so bad at graphic performance and they killed another 30% of any FPS with "new" lightning sytem, an epic fail.
Some tips and info....
If you are using mods to increase traffic...forget about it. Huge impact in performance is determined by the number of spawned AI vehicles. Sience outside cities you have less roads=less traffic=higher FPS. In cities, more roads=more traffic (usual AI + city AI)= low FPS.
If you have HIGH-RES mods (trailers, trucks) ...forget about them. A mod with 80mb textures (SCS one=1.2 mb) is not gonna help you in FPS. Is like running in an athletic competition holding a horse in your arms. The game has limited processing power. Any mod with lights....also bad choice. Graphic mods, spring, autumn, brutal something....not good. Any mod with hi-res textures = less FPS.
In their huge incompetence SCS are wasting time updating multiplayer, photo mode, sunsets and other crap, but the AA and performance are left as 10 years ago. And, on top of that, any update is getting the game worst and worst,
They included FMOD for "better" sounds (killing a bunch of mods) but the game sounds are still crap. Then, they introduced "new" lightning system, with new sunsets and shitty bright light and shitty truck lights ...but they killed all sounds in game. Now, they "updated" the force feedback on wheels, so all players are now disable FFB...is that bad.

Another way to gain some FPS is to be honest with this game, aknowledge and accept how bad it is and reduce your expectations from it. Use a lower resolution, thats a huge FPS gain. Use lower settings on other stuff...from ultra to high and so on.

The performance is up to you...to find a balance. I know, it doesnt sound good but i am not making the game...i'm just a guy making maps and NOT playing the game anymore and the reason is the one you described above: is bad.
