Yeah we cant help it, we want the game to be the best looking it can be. So we have to get NPI working with SSAO, this is the way.

Recently got back into ETS/ATS. A big thanks for this, quiet the game changer to have such a clean image. It took me some hours though, since my 970GTX could easily manage 2xMS with 2xSGSSAA but struggled with 4xMS and 4xSGSSAA. I ended up with 2xMS with 2xSGSSAA, DSR from 1080p to 2160p and used the poor mans adaptive sync 30fps (The ingame Vsync via CFG to 30fps didnt really work while I used DSR). I also tweaked my CFG with the numbers here and also created the LOD mod. So far the FPS is stable without tearing during some test in the newer map parts. If its too heavy I still have room for tweaks.

Somebody help me solve the problem of frames drops in some places

I made this video showing the problem from the 3 minute, notice that the frames drop, but the use of cpu (Ryzen 1600AF@3.8ghz) and gpu (RTX 2070) do not suffer the increase in use.




I'm using the recommended settings in the topic, DSR 1.70x 1080p = 1440p , Vsync = 2, with 4xMS and 4xSGSSAA and leaves_lod.config [ leaves_lod_start: (980.0, 980.0, 980.0) leaves_lod_end: (990.0, 990.0, 990.0)]

I'm having exactly that same problem and I have just noticed people on SCS forum
reporting it too. Let's wait and see, it might be something bad, a bug, that SCS
managed to introduce in both ATS and ETS2 latest released version. There might
be another patch released soon! YOU'RE NOT ALONE! :good2: :aikido:

EDIT: If you're using SSAO, disable it temporarily and skip that LOD settins too
temporarily, it helps a bit! You might also have to remove graphics mods that
isn't updated to 1.38 yet. Grimes', ProjectNG and FAEL, if used!

I using ETS version 1.36 no SSAO yet, but I will do some tests in the problematic places, inclusive disable all mods.

Are you using 1.36???? Then forget all I said! It was ONLY applicable to v1.38!

EDIT: If this is some problem, FPS drops where there are plenty of trees, I am
starting to wonder if it has something to do with any changes or additions we've
done here lately! Hmmmm!

The fps drops happen because the game is being rendered on one thread only, and when this one thread goes to 100% at difficult areas it does not let the gpu work at its full potential and thus the fps drops. This is especially a thing on 1st gen Ryzen that have low single thread performance, a bit less on 2nd gen and almost none at all at 3rd gen. Your best bet if you have a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen is to overclock it a bit and most importantly tweak the ram. You will be surprised how much performance you gain going from XMP settings to manual tuning of timings or even memory frequency as well. I am currently playing AC Origins which is even worse on that matter as it uses all threads at 100% on XMP settings even on Intel Processors, like the 8700K, which result in heavy stuttering. But with manual ram timings the game is smooth as butter, with 1% Low of 65 fps (with XMP they were around 40-45!!). Another thing that helped me with frame pacing was putting max frame rate at NVIDIA Control Panel the refresh rate of my monitor, 75 at my end, and Vsync ON. That resulted is a more smooth gameplay as there are always moments when the fps will spike for like half a second above the refresh rate of your monitor even if you have Vsync ON, which results in the Vsync kicking in to lower them to the refresh rate of the monitor and this creates stutters. But with max frame rate from NVIDIA Control Panel you can clearly see the frametime line on rivatuner statistics being straight 90% of the time..
