Headtracking information
Re: Headtracking information
Hi again Kimmer! I have already tested the smartphone way of getting a VR environment for ETS2.
But the solution I went for is the following:
1. Generate 3D graphics from ETS2 by using Reshade with a shader called SuperDepth3D.
2. Transfer that 3d graphics to my smartphone, a Sony Xperia XZ Premium, using Geforce Experience
Gamestream function on PC and receiving it by the Moonlight app on the smartphone, which in turn
is mounted in a VR headset called FreeFly VR. Link: https://www.freeflyvr.com.au/
I've also tested the TrinusVR app and that has some potential too I think, but right now I've settled
with the above solution. :D As I've also said in the first post, the drawback with smartphone headtracking
is that you only get 3DOF, only rotational info is possible to transfer to the game. Can be remedied by using
some other means of getting the translational info too, Aruco e.g.!

Re: Headtracking information
I've also examined this solution now. He looks so good. Maybe it can be used with aruco. If that's so good. When I get the salary, I get a VR headset.

@Kimmer
If you do try this solution, please report back here with the result,
even if it's a negative one!

Re: Headtracking information
@BenganJ
Of course I will. I hope I get a good result.

Re: Headtracking information
@Kimmer
I forgot to give the links to the SuperDepth3D shader for Reshade.
The shaders from that pack that I use is SuperDepth3D.fx and
Polynomial_Barrel_Distortion.fx. The settings for ETS2 are in the
Game_Settings.txt file. The download link is:
https://github.com/BlueSkyDefender/Depth3D
The creator of those shaders has his own topic on the Reshade forum,
link to it is:
https://reshade.me/forum/shader-present ... pic-shader
Actually I use one more shader from this pack, the Smart_Sharp.fx,
but that is for a general sharping effect of the graphic in ETS2.

Re: Headtracking information
Hi Bengan OK you have convinced me :) After watching various reviews on youtube I have decided to go for the Delanclip gamer. It seems to get favorable reviews and is one of the cheapest. So if it all goes t*t's up it wont have cost me too much :D Let me know what you think.
Re: Headtracking information
@bogdac
That's a VERY good choice! I have only good to say about it, or rather almost
all reviews I've seen and read say that this is very sturdily built gadget, so
if you haven't decided yet, GO FOR IT! And please, ask whatever question
here, if you get into any trouble, I doubt you will though! :D

Re: Headtracking information
Having now ordered the Delanclip could I pick your brain a little bit before it arrives? Can I ask you what software you use with your device Eg Facenoir, Opentrack etc? and also I believe the conventional way to use the Delanclip is to velcro it to the side of a set of headphones. would it work if you used, say a baseball cap instead? Many thanks :DBenganJ wrote: ↑February 11th, 2019, 8:12 pm@bogdac

Re: Headtracking information
@bogdac
Ah, you're a fast one! :D That version of the DelanClip is meant to be mounted on something
harder than a baseball cap, a headphone e.g.! As I haven't used one myself, i don't know if
it'll work well on cap. TrackHat, the other UK based headtracking company do have caps
with infrared LEDS sewed into the cap. So in this case you'll have to experiment a bit to see
if you can get it to work with a cap. That gadget is very low-weight I've heard, might work.
The manual for DelanClip talks only about FaceTrackNoIR software, an old version too.
TrackHat says it has it's own version of Opentrack software. BOTH of'em should be used by
the open-source Opentrack software, which is totally free and has a lot of solutions for
headtracking and is actively developed. I use Opentrack, BUT both FaceTrackNoIR and
Opentrack will do the job splendidly. As a matter of fact, the guy that created Opentrack,
used to do co-developing on FaceTrackNoIR. He so called forked FaceTrackNoIR and made
his own version.
DAMN, it is dangerous to get me going! I hope you can get something out of all this
flood of words and when the time comes, just ask any question you like regarding this.
Hope to hear from ya, even if it's only a report on how it went! Learning from each other
is always good, a well managed team is hard to beat! :D
