[DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@Wally5959
Without knowing anything about your environment I first want you
to post your latest game log, so that I can see your base settings.
Also, tell me if you use the Nvidia Profile Inspector to enhance the
antialiasing in the game.

I apologize if these don't post correctly. I'm new at this. Also below are my computer and monitor specs. I followed step 1 to 3 for the NPI set up multiple times to make sure I had it right. Let me know if you need more info and thank you for your time.

Okay, let me check all this out and I'll get back to you! Stay tuned!
EDIT: But I see right now that you don't have the Steam Launch Options that are recommended.
Here you have them, so add them and then check if you see any changes to the better!

@BenganJ
I fixed that in ATS but had it in ETS2 already. It did not seem to make any difference however. I was hoping for an easy fix. Thanks again for the time and effort.

Can I ask you if it's correct that you have your monitors and also the games refresh rate set to 144 Hz,
or actually 143 Hz as the log say? Further, have you measured the lowest FPS value you get when playing
ATS?

I also see that you have Freesync support in the monitors, but with an Nvidia card,
that is not possible to use. You haven't got V-Sync set either. If all this is correct,
I think I have a couple of suggestions for you!

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
Quick 10 min drive I saw as low as 39 FPS but most of the time it stayed around 50 to 55 FPS. My refresh rate is 144 on the monitors but is 143 in game because that is what it says I can click on. I can only pic "Default", "59", "119" and "143". Picture attached.
Freesync is on by default on my monitors.. I did try to turn it off but starting having screen tearing it looked like. And correct V-sync in game is disabled.

Thanks! Then I suggest that you try this, all settings you can do by editing the config.cfg!
Test this, should give you almost NO stuttering and in general a smoother experience of the game!
Please, report back when you have tested for a while!

Code: Select all
uset r_mode_refresh "0" //Instead of "143" that you have now.
uset r_vsync "3" //This to get a Frame Limit at 144/3 = 48, slightly below the mostly 50 FPS you normally get.
uset t_averaging_window_length "96" //Setting the number of frames used to calculate the frame timing to 2x the Frame Limit!
Please, report back when you have tested for a while!

Regarding the blurriness you experience, that is because almost all methods to get a better
antialiasing will blur the image. With your version of the Nvidia driver and version of NPI,
you have to start Nvidia Control Panel and under 3D settings for the game, not the Global
tab, you can set Image sharpening. Start with the values you find in the first post, then
adjust to get a sharper image, but without getting back too much flickering. Turning the
view in the game will mean that very many more objects per second will have to get
updated giving a blurring impact. Bad frame syncing also give screen tearing, which
hopefully should have been fixed with the previous settings.

Re: [DX11] Help regarding Nvidia Profile Inspector (NPI)
@Bengan
I did everything you suggested and the 3 inputs in the config file really stabilized my game. Its really nice now. Then I went into NCP and changed the Image sharpening for ATS only. I started with .50 "Sharpen" and .17 "ignore film rate". I went and drove and the issue is still there. It looks completely clear and beautiful (esp now after what you suggested with the config file) driving straight down the road, but if I turn a corner or even change lanes, all signs and vehicles completely blur out until I am heading straight again. Turning at roundabouts and stoplights are the worst. Its really messes with my eyes because it gets so blurry. So I increased both sharpen and ignore film rate by .10 increments and tested until that were both maxed out at 1.0 and it had no change in the blurriness when turning. I'm willing to try anything at this point. I built this rig specifically for ATS, ETS2 and Farming sim and 2 of the 3 are unplayable in the current state.
