Roextended Project

Hi all. I had an interesting thing happen to me this morning and I thought I'd see if it has happened to anyone else. I was playing on a profile that I had Eastern Express on as a standalone and I got booted from the game. Turned out to be a Steam update. So, I get Steam updated, re-started my computer for good measure and tried to get back to my eastern express profile but it was GONE. Absolutely no sign of it, like it never existed. Luckily it wasn't my Vanilla or Modded Map profiles but this shook me, as it very well could have been.
Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone have any advice, besides create a new profile and start again?

In your file explorer, have you tried looking in the following location and seeing if you profile is there: Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles
In the past, I also had this same issue where after updating the game, my profiles were gone. It happened to me back in December 2020. But after some hours of trying to locate my profile, I found it and I got my profile back. Ever since I recovered that profile I've been playing on that profile for 6 months now.

Thanks for your reply and that's a good idea. However, my profiles folder is empty.

There's not even ONE profile in your profiles folder? Is it completely empty?

You didn't happen to have your ETS2 HOMEDIR at another place before using the -homedir path startup option?
If so, look at that place instead! Now you probably are at a newly created or the original place for the ETS2
data!

Right, but the profiles should be in the "profiles" folder.

My profile is on steam_profiles and folder profiles is empty

Edit: There are backups after every game update (a save game is also there)

But how to restore maybe the experts (Like Bengan and Arayas) can tell you

I don't know why your profiles are in your steam_profiles folder. I have my profiles on the profiles and steam_profiles folder. Maybe because you have steam cloud sync enabled.

Yes i have steam cloud on. I'm also interested how to restore a profile if it is lost. So lets hear from experts
