Hi.

I'm quite new to the map editor but do understand most of the things by now. Few weeks ago i started a map project and it works quite well so far but..

I just ran into an issue with adding new cities to the map. I watched a lot of tutorials and set up my mod folder. As long as i add just one city to the mod it works without any issues but as soon as i add a second city to the mod, none of them appear. i cant choose them placing a city.

my city.xxx.sii file in the def-folder looks like this:

@include "city/ratingen.sui"
@include "city/siegen.sui"

and the city-.sii file itself in the city-folder looks like this:

city_data : city.ratingen
{
city_name: "Ratingen"
city_name_localized: "@@Ratingen@@"
country: neuland
population: 40000

and so on..

so.. what am i doing wrong or whats the problem here?
would be very helpful if someone knows this s problem and could solve it.
Thanks!

look in your editor log every time when something is not working (not gamelog)

Okay yeah, i figured it out, it had something to do with the number plates.
I need to focus more on the log if something doesnt work.

Thanks for your quick reply

Hey, i hope it is correct to post this question here, i am new to the forum.

I started creating my own map in the last weeks and also thanks to you and your videos, Arayas, i got pretty far so far. Got my own 1:3-map and everything works out fine.

But now suddenly while editing in editor suddenly all my vegetation disappeared. i re-started the editor and it everything seems to be fine again. but i am still getting a lot of these errors in the log-file:

(...)
00:02:45.952 : <ERROR> Vegetation position pool was depleted! (14115 of 12288; quad size: [113.301, 32.7109]) Expect missing vegetation! uid: 0x51DD17E1A2800001
00:02:45.953 : <ERROR> Detail vegetation texture: /material/terrain/iberia/desert_grass_gravel1_ibe.tobj, Density: 10
00:02:45.953 : <ERROR> Vegetation position pool was depleted! (17106 of 12288; quad size: [131.781, 39.2813]) Expect missing vegetation! uid: 0x51DD17E1A2800001
00:02:45.954 : <ERROR> Detail vegetation texture: /material/terrain/iberia/desert_grass_gravel1_ibe.tobj, Density: 10
(...)

Is that a bigger problem? i googled a bit and maybe it has to do with too much stuff going on in my map? it is actually not that heavy packed with stuff, but i have to admit that i play a lot with far view distance, even for smaller models like palm trees. i just love far distance views :pleasantry:

thanks for your help in advance!

Avoid huge terrain pieces, bezier patches or simple terrain, if you have vegetation on it.
Viewing distance is the most important performance tool, set everything on 1400 and you will have a non functional map (freeze).
The error is harmless in game, but its a sign something is not doned right.

Thanks! So would you rather just make a street with for example 400 metres terrain instead of 1400 and than the rest of the see-able terrain further away just a terrain piece with no vegetation?

even 400 is too much, also for diversity sake.
1400 hell no, not a way to do maps.

"no weather area" is something you add (like a road, model or other materials) from the "item Type" drop down list.
resize it, rotate it to cover tunnel area. Place it atleast 10 m above road.
