Map Editor Background
Map Editor Background
Hello everyone,
A few days ago, my editor background disappeared (red "file not found" background now). I didn't change anything into the mod files and the background image I configured is still there. Do you have any idea about what could have made it buggy?
Thanks

Re: Map Editor Background
@MyGodness
You are the third person I help with this problem! Why can't SCS tell this more publicly!
Are you aware of the fact that the Map Editor is now in a way separated from the game
and should be started in a whole new way. You have to create a shortcut, either pointing to the
game executable OR the Steam applaunch way. Here's an example of a shortcut I use for editing
a map based on europe.mbd:
but as you have a standalone map, I guess you should
just change the -edit europe to -edit <yourmapname>.
I hope this will help you get going again!

The path where the editor should start is the folder where the game executable lives. In this case here:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 227300 -edit europe -force_mods -noworkshop -mm_max_resource_size 100 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000"
Note the -edit europe AND the need for -force_mods,"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64"
but as you have a standalone map, I guess you should
just change the -edit europe to -edit <yourmapname>.
I hope this will help you get going again!
Re: Map Editor Background
Thanks but yes I am already using the seperate editor since 1.36. I lunch my editor through Steam with the -edit grandutopia parameters ;) Do I really need to add the -force_mods ? What does it make ?
I tried to recreate my .dds file and .tobj file but that doesn't work. I even tried to take a new editor_data.sii from last def to make sure SCS didn't change something in it recently. And moreover, I don't have any error line about that non recognized background on the log.
I am completely lost

Yes, you need the -force_mods, it loads ALL mods in mod folder in alphabetical order,
so keep ONLY the needed mods in the mod folder you use when editing! All the resource
options I have in the end will ensure that also BIG Map Editor background images will
load and shown in the ME UI!

Re: Map Editor Background
Bengan, I was just about to ask why the heck can't I see the map background. I followed the exact tutorial Arayas did and it was not working. Now that I added -force_mods it worked perfectly thank's to you!
