Uploading map

Hello.
Say if i were to upload my map, what would i include in it? Would it be for example the def and map files and then pack them up in a .rar file?

the files needed to make your map work. Be sure you dont upload SCS definitions edited by you (if your map is NOT standalone).
And not RAR, but ZIP renamed SCS.

I mean when i want to release the map mod to the public, how do i pack it?

Arayas just told you! ZIP all the files that the map mod consists of and then change the extension from .zip to .scs!

However, it needs to be set to .rar for public release right?

No, actually not, but it is quite common for mappers to ZIP or RAR
the map mod when it is released, but then the map consists of several
mod components, like added road connection mods e.g.! I must say
I have a hard time considering you as a former Promods mapper.

for example in my defmap file i have

manifest.sii

all this are included in a zip archive renamed later from zip to scs
if you want that scs file to compress it yet again you can include it in a rar file, but not necesary
