When i launch the base game i use classic shortcut to Steam application (first line)
When i want to play the game without any relation to main mod folder used for mapping i use the second line in shortcut. I have created an Euro Truck Simulator 2 folder in D:\Play folder (with mod folder in it also) and i keep my mods there. You can use n external harddrive because any Drive connected has a letter assigned by the PC.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 227300 -64bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_pool_size 4000 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -noworkshop
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 227300 -homedir D:\Play -64bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_pool_size 4000 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -noworkshop

Note though, that External disks most often have a lower performance than Internal ones or SSD disks.

First move all my games to D: and only mod folder on C: for now, until I buy a bigger HD. THANKS.
